Overview:
The Lake Tanganyika Program (LTP), a conservation initiative led by The Nature Conservancy (TNC), aims to conserve and protect at least 30% of near-shore Key Biodiversity Areas and other critical biodiversity habitats by June 2030. The program operates across the riparian countries of Lake Tanganyika, with direct interventions in Tanzania through TNC and collaboration with partners such as Sustain Lake Tanganyika (SLT), Moshi Cooperative University (MoCU), Community Economic Empowerment and Legal Support (CEELS), Frankfurt Zoological Society (FZS) in Nsumbu, Zambia, World Wildlife Fund (WWF) in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and the Lake Tanganyika Authority (LTA), which coordinates conservation efforts throughout the riparian countries.
Purpose of the Request:
The Lake Tanganyika Program is seeking a qualified Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Consultant to support the program’s monitoring, enhance data collection and monitoring systems, engage partners in monitoring efforts, and facilitate learning processes for a 6-month period.
A robust MEL system is essential for the program as it helps to make evidence-based decisions, adapt management strategies, track progress, measure impacts, and assess the effectiveness of conservation efforts and stakeholder engagement. It also ensures accountability to stakeholders and funders, enabling the continuous learning needed to adapt strategies for long-term sustainability.
