Position: Seascape Coordinator – Kilwa Seascape
Location: Kilwa District, Tanzania
Reports To: Program and Fundraising Manager
Position Type: Fixed, 12-month contract
Grade and Salary: Grade D, AFO 6
Start Date: Immediate

Founded in 2016 and officially registered in 2017, Aqua-Farms Organization (AFO) is a Tanzanian Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) focused on promoting economic growth, enhancing financial access, and fostering community-led efforts in aquatic conservation. With registration under the NGO Act, 2002, AFO drives impactful projects that prioritize both environmental stewardship and the socio-economic well-being of Tanzanian communities.

Seascape Coordinator – Role Summary
The Seascape Coordinator for Kilwa Seascape will be integral in leading community-driven projects aimed at sustainable development in coastal regions. This role is best suited for an individual with a strong background in community development, social sciences, or marine-related fields, coupled with extensive experience in project management and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities
• Project Leadership: Lead the implementation of community development initiatives, ensuring they align with objectives and timelines. Maintain project work plans and monitor progress, addressing any deviations as they arise. Stakeholder Coordination: Build robust relationships with local fishing communities, authorities, and NGOs within the Kilwa Seascape. Organize regular consultations to foster effective communication among all stakeholders.
• Livelihoods Enhancement: Design and deliver programs to enhance income-generating activities and skill development within the fishing communities. Conduct thorough assessments to identify challenges and tailor strategies to community needs. Capacity Building: Provide training and technical assistance to build the skills of community members and local organizations. Support effective implementation of project activities through targeted capacity-building efforts.
• Knowledge Sharing and Communication: Disseminate project findings through various platforms and engage with the broader development community for knowledge exchange.

Additional Responsibilities
• Manage program budgets, internal processes, and team meetings. Oversee field teams and provide guidance during implementation. Support procurement and ensure deliverable quality from consultancies. Represent AFO at official events and maintain communication with donors and external stakeholders.

Experience and Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in social science, economics, fisheries science, community development, or a related field.
Experience: At least 5 years in community development or coastal projects, with expertise in project management and stakeholder engagement.
Languages: Fluency in both English and Kiswahili.
Additional Skills: Experience with USAID projects, diving certification, familiarity with GIS, and expertise in data analysis are preferred.

Skills and Capabilities
• Proficiency in project management, business development, and fundraising. Strong communication skills for both verbal and written interactions. Familiarity with donor regulations, especially from organizations like USAID and the EU.

• Availability to respond to emergencies and willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
