JOB DETAILS:
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Successful delivery of the planned maintenance regime, fulfilling its statutory obligations, while also providing a breakdown reactive response harmonizing both customer and organizational requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Certificate of Secondary School Education with VETA Trade Test Certificate Grade One/Level Three in Mechanical.
• Diploma/Full Technician Certificate in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering.
• Must possess a valid Tanzanian Driving License.
EXPERIENCE
• At least 3 years of working experience in underground equipment (Sandvik & Caterpillar).
MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Good awareness and ability to manage safety, health, and environmental aspects in the workplace.
• Ensure shift handovers are conducted professionally for the incoming shift.
• Manage shift reports effectively, ensuring they are completed daily from start to end of the shift.
• Participate in the selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of assigned staff.
• Contribute to the establishment of performance requirements and personal development targets and provide technical assistance and advice to assigned staff.
• Provide day-to-day leadership and work with staff to ensure a high-performance, customer service-oriented work environment aligned with departmental objectives and values.
• Assist with the development and administration of the department’s annual budget.
o Forecast additional funds needed for staffing, consultants, contractors, equipment, materials, and supplies.
o Monitor and approve expenditures and adjust as necessary to meet changing conditions.
• Ensure all safety concerns are shared and reported promptly, and actions are executed or closed.
• Ensure supervision is effective to achieve proper maintenance and meet KPI targets.
• Ensure all mechanics adhere to the work roster, with disciplinary actions for absenteeism.
• Maintain effective communication with upper levels of management.
• Ensure mechanics arrive at work on time, including after lunch breaks.
• Coach and train subordinates based on daily activities.
• Perform checks and tests to verify the success of repair work.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Previous experience in a similar role or working on mechanical components of equipment.
• Principles and techniques for working with groups and fostering effective team interaction to ensure smooth teamwork.
• Principles and practices of administration, including goal setting, procedure development, implementation, evaluation, and work standards.
