Serengeti Breweries Limited (SBL) is a fully integrated beverage business in Diageo Africa (supply and demand for beer and spirits).

SBL flagship brand is Serengeti Premium Lager. Other brands in the portfolio include Serengeti Lite, Guinness, Pilsner and SIB. Headquartered in Dar es Salaam, SBL is also the distributor of several global Diageo international world-class spirits brands such as Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff, Gordon’s, Bailey’s and Captain Morgan.

Purpose of Role:
• Manage a Brewing Shift Team to be able to produce quality wort and beer at optimum cost in most efficient manner at a safest way while maintaining a good team morale.
• Work with Tier 1 level to lead and motivate the shift team to take accountability to delivery Word Class Performance in all aspects of the balanced scorecard (Safety, Quality, Service and Cost)
• Ensure that all health, safety and environment, quality, cost, and reliability standards are met and driving conformance to regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g ISO and HACCP)
• Implement significant change within a continuous improvement culture. High level of engagement and leadership and ME method and tools
• Lead shift team in the deployment of MMS practices
• Drive 5S quality standards and relentless compliance to 5S standards
• Actively spend 80% of time on shopfloor

Key Accountabilities
• Maintaining a safe working environment and ensure all equipment within brewing is operated in line with required Environment, Health, and Safety Standards.
• Delivering quality products that meets Diageo specification to both internal and external customers.
• Maintaining a high level of hygiene of across all brewing equipment’s and areas around the equipment’s
• Planning and controlling the production area to ensure delivery that is on time and in full to the agreed schedule.
• Reduce waste in the operation to meet or exceed cost targets.
• Coaching and Development of employees in area of responsibility
• Establish continuous improvement as a way of life through the active introduction of operational best practices.
• Ensure timely and effective usage of any new systems and processes that are adopted by the organization like new operating systems and digital technology for example Orbis and Strata.
• Ensure proper application of RCPS through modelling and leadership. Raise 5WHY as defined by agreed trigger points and lead situational problem solving on shift.
• Completely accountable for planning and driving the Asset Care agenda for the shift.
• Active participation in own development initiatives as a leader of people
• Maintain good working relation with within the team and with another shift.

Qualifications and Experience Required:
• BSc in Food Science and Technology or any other Degree in the field of natural sciences studies.
• Diploma or Certificate of IBD will be an advantage.
• At least four (4) years’ experience in active Brewing practices and two (2) years management experience
