JOB DETAILS:
WHO is providing financial and technical assistance to the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children (MOHCDGEC) as well as the MOH in Zanzibar to strengthen response measures aimed at mitigating the impact of COVID-19 on human lives. A critical component of response in COVID-19 is Logistics Management. In this regard, WHO wants to recruit temporary staff to support logistics activities for COVID-19 response at the national level, and sometimes at sub national levels when needed. In the context of the WHO Health Emergencies incident management system, at the country level, the incumbent will implement technical activities directed towards logistics of outbreaks and health emergencies, support quantification and forecasting of health products needs of the country, maintain overall situational awareness of the event as well as the location and status of all deployed resources as well as Facilitate procurement of supplies including treatment kits (local or international). Recruited staff may be deployed to the regions (as per needs) to support the regions as per the TORs below. In the country of assignment, reporting to the Team Lead, and based on priorities set by the Incident Manager and the WHO Head of Country Office, and working closely with other logisticians, the incumbent will act as a logistics expert for the WHE programme. The incumbent will work in close collaboration with relevant technical officers at the national level. .

Summary of Assigned Duties:
• Build capacity of front-line health care workers in Case management at health facilities in regions and districts through on-site mentorship and support supervision and virtual training.
• Support best practices in clinical case management by adapting and distributing up to date guidance, including information on the latest treat¬ments.
• Ensure availability and utilization of appropriate protocols for case management at treatment centres and health facilities.
• Support epidemiology by providing relevant clinical and laboratory data.
• Join regional Rapid Response Teams and provide support in Case management.
• Conduct infrastructure assessment and technical support in COVID-19 identified isolation and treatment centres.
• Develop relevant messaging to the community on COVID-19 case management in collaboration with Risk communication and community en¬gagement pillar.
• Contribute to revision of SOPs, guidelines, and standards on case management for COVID-19 response.
• Support regions and districts in planning, monitoring and evaluation of COVID-19 activities (case management).
• Support regions and districts in resource mobilization for COVID-19 activities.
• Perform any other incident-specific related duties, as required by the functional supervisor

Specific Requirements
• Essential: Excellent knowledge of the English and Swahili.
• Desirable: Working knowledge of other UN language is an added advantage.
• Essential: Minimum university degree in Medicine.
• Desirable: A Postgraduate training, in Internal medicine, Paediatrics, Community medicine or any of the areas related to the functions of the position, from a recognized university.
• Essential: At least 5year experience working in case management in healthcare setting or emergency response.
• Desirable: Active clinical experience in case management of COVID-19 or severe acute respiratory infection patients within healthcare settings or in the context of outbreaks.
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the dynamics around COVID-19 emergency response; with focus on Case Management
• Experience in case management, training and mentorship at national or regional level is important.
• Submission of weekly activity plans and end of week update reports
• Report on the rapid infrastructural and operational analysis of isolation and treatment units of designated facilities. This should include HCWM infrastruc¬ture, supplies needs, capacity/no. of beds, staffing needs for HCWM, coordination, diversion of non-essential staff, supplies, equipment, etc.
• End of contract report documenting all activities including gaps and recommendations
