Job Description
Job Title: Civil Engineer
Reports to: Project Manager

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of our electricity-based projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Analyse and assess the impact of the electrical infrastructure on the surrounding environment and communities, and make recommendations to minimize negative impacts.
2. Ensure that all electrical infrastructure designs meet regulatory and safety standards, and adhere to all relevant codes and standards.
3. Manage construction projects, including overseeing contractors, coordinating with other engineering disciplines, and ensuring that work is completed on time and within budget.
4. Perform site visits and inspections to ensure that construction work is carried out according to design specifications and quality standards.
5. Identify potential design and construction issues, and work with other engineering disciplines to resolve them.
6. Maintain accurate project documentation, including design plans, construction records, and project reports.
7. Design and oversee construction of infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with local, state, regulations
8. Develop plans and specifications for construction, including cost estimates and timelines
9. Conduct site investigations and surveys to determine project requirements and feasibility
10. Analyse data and perform calculations to determine project requirements, such as load-bearing capacity and structural stability
11. Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other professionals to ensure successful project outcomes
12. Monitor project progress and performance to ensure adherence to timelines and budgets
13. Maintain accurate records and documentation of project activities, including budgets, schedules, and construction progress
14. Perform safety inspections and identify potential hazards, ensuring compliance with safety standards

Requirements:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
2. Professional Engineer (PE) licensure preferred
3. Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil engineering
4. Previous Experience in a Tanesco Related project is preferred.
5. Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, and methods.
6. Proficient in AutoCAD and other engineering software
7. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
8. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
9. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
10. Attention to detail and commitment to quality
11. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Physical Requirements:
1. Must be able to work in outdoor environments, including construction sites
2. Must be able to lift and carry equipment.
3. Must be able to climb ladders, stairs, and scaffolding as needed
4. Must be able to work in confined spaces and at heights

Requirements:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
2. Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is strongly preferred.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate complex technical information to a variety of stakeholders.
4. Experience working with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and other engineering software.
