JOB DETAILS:
Duties
Tracking Issues and Briefing: 20%
• Follows and reports on current developments in various sectors including Transportation, Information Technology, Environment,
• Mining, Women Entrepreneurs and Small to Medium Enterprises and reports regularly to the Economic and ESTH Officers, Political/
• Economic Team, and Mission Leadership on significant developments in local laws, policies, and practices that have the potential
• To impact the economy or issues relating to ESTH, as well as local economic conditions.
Research and Drafting: 20%
• Drafting required annual reports and spot reporting on economic and ESTH issues.
Visits Support: 15%
• Provides support to visiting officials from U.S. agencies, including identifying appropriate local contacts, organizing Meeting schedules, facilitating logistics, and accompanying the visitor, as required.
Support to other agencies: 15%
• Provides support to U.S. agencies without an official presence in Tanzania, including USTR, Ex-Im Bank, USTDA,
• The Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Energy, and others. This support includes following up with local contacts on substantive issues, replying to specific inquiries from these agencies, sharing information from these agencies with local officials, and facilitating programs funded by these agencies.
Contacts development: 15%
• Develops and maintains contacts with local government officials to facilitate bilateral talks and with private sector representatives. Maintains up-to-date contact information for use in inviting government and private sector representatives to Embassy-sponsored events. Contacts range from working-level staff to senior-level government officials across several Ministries and economic sectors.
Representational and other duties: 15%
• Represents the Embassy at meetings, forums, and events. Backs up other Pol/Econ LES, the Self-Help Coordinator, and the Protocol Assistant/Special Events Coordinator. Serves as translator and interpreter as needed.
Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: Five years’ work experience in a trade field involving interaction with private sector, government, and multi-national corporations required.
Education Requirements:
• University degree in the fields of Commerce, Economics, Business or Administration is required.
Evaluations:
LANGUAGE: Fluent level in English and Kiswahili (speaking, writing and reading) is required. (This may be tested).

Level of Education: Bachelor Degree
