Afreximbank is seeking to appoint a new President & Chairman of the Board of Directors to succeed the current President whose term ends in September 2025. The Headquarters of the Bank is located in Cairo, Egypt, with 6 regional offices across Africa and the Caribbean. The Bank has approximately 750 employees and reported total assets and guarantees of about USD 37 billion in 2023.
Eligibility Criteria

Applicants for the position of President & Chairman of the Board of Directors must meet the following criteria:
o At least 25 years of relevant experience in international banking.
o Experience in African and Caribbean Community (CARICOM) trade finance, project finance, and financial service markets.
o Extensive knowledge of the African/CARICOM economic context, including their economic history.
o Strong business and political networks across Africa and its diaspora.
o Experience managing a systemic world-class financial group, including business origination, negotiation, governance, asset and liability management, risk management, and people management.
o Experience overseeing the management of Bank operations.
o Experience leading a skilled executive team in a complex and dynamic group environment.
o Ability to motivate vision, innovation, and drive execution in a complex environment.
o Demonstrated knowledge of the operations of multilateral financial institutions and their legal foundations.
o Strong analytical, interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
o Nationality from one of the Bank’s member states (excludes applicants with dual citizenship where one citizenship is from a non-African state, or from the country of the Bank’s Headquarters, Egypt, or the same nationality as the sitting President, currently Nigeria).

Role of the President & Chairman
The President is both the Chairman of the Board of Directors and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Afreximbank. With a 5-year mandate (renewable once), the President is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Bank, developing and implementing the organization’s business strategies, maintaining relationships with external stakeholders (including African and Caribbean governments, international financial institutions, the private sector, and global institutions), and leading a multi-disciplinary team of professionals.
