Role overview
Interactive Theatre and Advocacy Adviser will create theatrical creative tool (interactive theatre, drama, to aware different groups including youth and community). She/ He will guide the development of creative stories/ drama from information collected by youth within their local communities; that focus on youth empowerment and equitable power relationships within the household, Community and local government authority. Theatre and Advocacy Adviser will also apply theatrical approaches to engage Local authorities and communities to support youth agenda and issues that will be raised within youth groups/clubs and through performances. Likewise He/she will work closely with youth, partners, and staff on ensuring youth friendly theatrical communication tools are developed and implemented.

Knowledge/qualifications:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in youth advocacy using Interactive Theatre approach
• Capacity to design, organize and facilitate theatrical workshops/trainings
• BA or MA on Theater Arts/Performing Arts.
• Experience of 3-5 years in Theatre for Development Program/Projects
• All applicants must possess strong written and spoken English language skills. Applicants may be required to take a VSO language test as part of the selection process.
• Proven experience of working with youths from a wide range of backgrounds with proven ability to facilitate learning in a non-formal environment.
• Experience of working cross-culturally and able to communicate to a range of audiences and promote sharing and learning between cultures
• Experience in planning agreed objectives and a track record of keeping deadlines and involving key individuals in the planning process.
• Commitment to team work, coaching, and mentoring others.
• Ability to handle problems and Good facilitation skills
• Experience of 3-5 years in Theatre for Development Program/Projects.
• Experience in the NGO sector
• Understanding of development issues around Youth empowerment,
• Understanding socio-economic issues,
• Knowledge of issues which are common to communities in developing countries, possibly achieved through working within an NGO.

Allowance
As a VSO volunteer, you will be sharing your skills with local communities on a full time basis. VSO will cover your travel, vaccinations, accommodation, and medical insurance costs, along with a local living allowance which will be paid in local currency. This allowance meets reasonable living expenses in country, but will not be enough to send money home. You will also receive some financial support to contribute to your on-going expenses at home.

VSO works with some of the poorest communities in the world which means accommodation varies and will be basic
