Job Title: TUTORIAL ASSISTANT (PHARMACEUTICS) (2 Posts)

Reports to: Dean, School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SOPH)

Duty Station: SJUT Chief Mazengo Campus – Dodoma

Job Summary: With guidance of senior staff conduct teaching, research and public services as consultancy.

Qualification: Holder of a Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm). Must have a GPA of 3.5 or above.

Experience: With a minimum of three (3) years working experience in tertiary education institutions.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The Tutorial Assistant (Pharmaceutics) shall be responsible to the Dean, School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SOPH) for efficiently and effectively preparing and delivering own teaching materials, applying problem solving and innovating skills, and recognizing those having difficulties, intervening and providing help and support. He/she shall specifically be responsible for:
• Understudy senior academic staff including attending lectures, leading seminars, tutorials and practicals where applicable.
• Study and acquire skills and knowledge in training, research and consultancy.
• Assists in marking and grading assignments, tests, examinations and invigilation under supervision.
• Assists in research, consultancy projects and outreach activities.
• Participates in curriculum development.
• Assists in other service programmes of the department.
• Performs any other duties that may be assigned by a competent authority.
• Salary Scale: Staff salary rank according to SJUT Scheme of Service
• Tenure: Fixed term contract of four (4) years renewable on satisfactory performance.

Qualifications
• Holders of Master’s degree with a GPA of 4.0 or above and a GPA of 3.5 or above for Bachelor degree majoring in Marketing.

• Attending/organizing workshops, conferences and seminars
• Any other relevant duties that may be assigned by the management

JOB DETAILS:
Key tasks
• Work closely with the existing team to deliver lessons on main SRHR and related topics in schools, churches, youth clubs and other facilities where young people meet.
• Educate adolescents about SRHR in an accurate, respectful, informative and engaging manner.
• Discuss with and counsel adolescents on SRHR matters confidentially, and with appropriate, relevant authorities.
• Engage effectively with the management of schools and other facilities to deliver the programme.
• Work with local radio stations and present engagingly.

Necessary qualifications and experience
• Recognized teaching qualification, such as an undergraduate degree in education OR
• Recognized qualification in Adolescents Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) training.
• Worked / volunteered in a teaching capacity in primary schools and/or secondary schools or as an adolescent SRHR trainer
• Coordinated activities with head teachers and community leaders
• Good report-writing skills

Other necessary qualities
• Acceptance of and adherence to Maternity Africa’s values
• Already living/working in Arusha District
• Excellent communication skills, including demonstrated ability to communicate complex information simply and engagingly to adolescents
• Able to keep confidential information
• Fluent in Kiswahili, English and other local language(s)
• Well organized with excellent personal and class management skills
• Excellent work ethic, with close attention to detail
• Self-starter and able to work on own initiative
• Able to travel around Arusha City and neighboring areas
• Able to work as part of a small, professional implementation team
• Be flexible, ready, willing and able to take on other roles within Maternity Africa as the organization grows
