Duties
Operation: 50%
• Repairs malfunctioning electrical systems and ensures that all tasks are completed in accordance with applicable codes and manufacturers’ recommendations.
• Plans the layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, including drawing preliminary sketches and making cost estimates for materials and services.
• Monitors and inspects generator equipment to detect problems; controls generator output; installs standby generators and ensures operational condition in emergencies.
• Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures
• Responds to emergency calls during off-duty hours when critical systems stop functioning or when there is an imminent threat to the safety of personnel or structural integrity.
• Assists in developing and executing testing and inspection checklists to ensure quality work by contractors and staff.
• Contributes to the safety program managed by the Post Occupational Safety and Health Officer (FM).
Maintenance: 40%
• Performs preventive maintenance by inspecting, adjusting, and troubleshooting electrical systems to ensure reliable operation and uninterrupted electrical current to critical facilities.
• Inspects electrical systems and equipment to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with the reporting requirements of the Overseas Buildings Operations Annual Facility Condition Survey and Annual Inspection Summary.
• Tests electrical systems and circuits using devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes to ensure compatibility and safety.
Logistics: 10%
• Records and compiles operational data, completing and maintaining forms, logs, and reports.
• Assists in preparing documents for maintenance, repair and renovation, including soliciting and monitoring contractors.
• Escorts local contractors at post facilities when required.

Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
• Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of experience in the repair and maintenance of electrical systems, equipment and components experience as an electrical apprentice or installer is required.
Education Requirements:
• Education: Completion of Secondary School is required and/or completion of vocational training from an accredited institute recognized as producing journeyman level technicians with a concentration in electrical principles and applications is required.
Evaluations:
Language: Limited knowledge (reading, speaking, and writing) in English is required and Good working knowledge (reading, speaking, and writing) in Kiswahili is required. “This may be tested”
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Valid driver’s license is required

JOB DETAILS:
Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is a Semi-Autonomous Agency under the Ministry of Works established on July 1, 2000 and is responsible for the day-to- day management of the Tanzania Mainland’s Trunk and Regional roads network as well as construction of Airports. Its primary functions include the management of maintenance and development works, operations of the network and axle load control, the implementation of road safety and environmental measures, provision of advice on the strategic framework, policies and plans for the road sector.
The Regional Manager TAN ROADS – Tanga, on behalf of the Chief Executive is looking for suitable qualified Tanzanian candidates for Regional Manager’s Office and Weighbridge Sections. Interested candidates are invited to apply for the following positions;
Entry Qualifications
• Holders of Ordinary Diploma in Civil, Mechanical, Automobile or Electrical Engineering or equivalent from any recognized learning institution;
• Must be Computer literate; and
• Must be fluent in both written and spoken Swahili and English Languages.
Duties and Responsibilities
• To carry out activities as described in the EAC Vehicle Load Control Act of 2016 and its Regulations of 2017;
• To weigh motor vehicles of gross weight (GVW) equal or greater to 3,500kg plying on our public roads;
• To enforce Axle Load Control by the use of weighbridge scale devices;
• To enforce road damage fees on the spot for overloaded vehicles;
• To measure physical dimensions of motor vehicle or any load being carried on the motor vehicle for providing advices to transporter for provision of relevant advice;
• To record all necessary particulars regarding the motor vehicle being weighed; and
• To perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Supervisor. Salary Scale: TRDS A.1
