Description

Pathfinder International is seeking recent undergraduates or graduates in health field from the Kigoma and Katavi regions of Tanzania for an internship to support a couple-focused intervention under the MOMENTUM Integrated Health Resilience Project. In total, Pathfinder International is seeking to engage eight interns, four in Kigoma and four in Katavi. The internship will be for a six-month period beginning in May 2023. The selected interns will be grouped into male-female pairs and be trained to facilitate small group sessions for the Couple Connect for Young Couples intervention which will be implemented in Uvinza and Tanganyika districts. This intervention is designed to build the “connectedness” or relationship quality of young couples in order to strengthen their capacity to jointly engage in equitable and healthy behaviors. The selected interns will work with multiple groups of young couples to facilitate a curriculum covering couple decision making, communication, joint planning, conflict management, and reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health. The interns will participate in a two-week training with the curriculum developers and then will work closely with Pathfinder International to implement the curriculum. Implementation will include collecting baseline and endline information from group participants, coordinate with a co-facilitator to prepare for and facilitate the 14 sessions of the curriculum for approximately 2-3 small groups, conduct review meetings with other program implementers monthly to review progress, and participate in the evaluation of the program, as needed. Travel expenses during field work will be covered, according to organizational policies that will be outlined in the internship agreement. This position will report to and work closely with the project’s Clinical Services Mentor throughout the duration of the assignment.
