Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGML) is Tanzania’s leading gold producer with a single operation in Geita Region. The company is a subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti, an international gold producer headquartered in Denver, USA. AGA has operations in more than ten countries across four continents. The mine is situated in the Lake Victoria Gold fields of Northwestern Tanzania, only about 120 km’s from Mwanza City and 20 km’s Southeast of the nearest point of Lake Victoria. The company has its main office and operations in Geita, only 5 Km’s west of the fast-growing town of Geita, and a supporting office in Dar es Salaam. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
The role focusses exclusively on the training and coaching of national Jumbo operators, ensuring they can drill a number of drive drill patterns using a mechanized electric/Hydraulic Jumbo drill suitable to ground conditions and in compliance with site specific drill patterns and survey instruction. As expat Jumbo Specialist, to ensure effective transfer of skills and knowledge to junior national jumbo operators following the set development plans.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Licensed / certified Jumbo Operator.
• Training Certificate / Experience – preferred.

EXPERIENCE:
• Extensive experience (10+ years) working as a Jumbo Operator.
• Knowledge of Underground Mining Practices and the efficient operations of an Underground Jumbo.
• Ability to work autonomously/independently with limited supervision.
• Demonstrate abilities to work within a team environment.
• A strong focus toward safety and hazard identification.

MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Ensure effective transfer of skills and knowledge to junior national jumbo operators following the set development plans.
• To train and coach new and existing national Jumbo Operators and Jumbo Offsiders and to grow their ability to function optimally under all underground mining conditions.
• Review and modify training development plans for identified national successors and provide regular feedback on their progress.
• Prepare bi-annual training report on the progress of the identified national successors on-the-job development.
• Training and coaching of junior national Jumbo Drill operators to accurately drill a number of drive drill patterns using a mechanized electric/Hydraulic Jumbo drill suitable to ground conditions and in compliance with site specific drill patterns and survey instruction.
• Training and coaching of junior national Jumbo Drill operators to assess ground conditions at the face and implement ground control according to site requirements.
• Training and coaching of junior national Jumbo Drill operators to read and accurately follow mining instruction plan with skill and precision ensuring holes are drilled to design line, gradient and profile.
• Training and coaching of junior national Jumbo Drill operators to optimize drill patterns to ensure maximum advance per round is achieved whilst maintaining strict adherence to design specifications.
• Communicate with training department, surveyors, geologists, and engineers as required.
• Ensure work area is safe for personnel and equipment to perform working duties including ensuring electrical installations and services are clear of the drilling area.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to facilitate skills transfer / on the job training / coaching.
• Knowledge of various training / coaching evaluation methods and performance monitoring.
• Demonstrate strong work ethics, an ability to communicate courteously with co- workers.
• First aid knowledge.
• Good written and oral communication skills in English language.
• Excellent hand/eye co-ordination.
• Understand the use of remote monitoring systems (Rms).
