Details
Society of Mathematics (SOMA) is a Non - Government Organization under NGO Act No.24 of 2002, it was founded in 2021 with registration number 00NGO/R/1853. We do empowerment, counselling, Mathematics teaching and coaching, capacity building, research, coordinating and implementing Mathematics projects at different levels. Our commitment is to improve Mathematics performance in Tanzania from Primary to Secondary education.
SOMA in collaboration with Shenmo Education is currently looking for 6 volunteers to join us and grow together. The volunteers should be Mathematics teachers, preferably, based in Dar Es Salaam region. If you're dedicated, ambitious and passionate about Mathematics, enjoy teaching and want to improve student’s Mathematics performance, then this is for you. Earliest possible entry is August 2021.

Required Skills and Competencies
The ideal candidate must:
• Possess a thorough understanding of effective teaching practices and able to create a stimulating learning environment that is sensitive to students' psychosocial needs.
• Possess relevant pedagogical competence
• Have appropriate skills to help students develop critical-thinking and logical reasoning.
• Ability to competently teach at least two topics among the following: Integration, Differentiation, Probability, Coordinate Geometry and Trigonometry. Any additional topics is a plus.
• Ability to manage and handle classes
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Flexibility and high adaptation skills to work successfully in an unpredictable school setting
• Organization and Outstanding interpersonal skills

Duties and Responsibilities
• Planning and presenting lessons to facilitate students' learning and application of mathematics in natural setting.
• Preparing and distributing learning materials such as class notes. o Preparing assessment tools such as assignments and tests.
• Designing instructional materials to sustain students’ interest in Mathematics o Ensuring that the classroom remains safe and conducive for learning o Regularly evaluating and monitoring the students’ performance o Documenting, reporting and openly communicating with the management regarding students' progress
• Acting as a role model by making students feel motivated, strengthening their self-confidence and inspiring them to achieve high goals while maintaining an approachable personality
• Performing other duties and tasks as assigned

Education Qualification
A candidate must possess at least bachelor degree in Mathematics from any reputable institution. Possessing bachelor degree in education with a specialization in Mathematics will be an added advantage.
