JOB DETAILS:
Akiba Commercial Bank Plc (Aklba) commenced banking operations in August 1997 as an initiative of over 300 Tanzanian entrepreneurs who were inspired to move into micro-finance, by the moral and economical concern for the plight of millions of Tanzania. These founding members were bound together by a strong conviction that in Akiba Commercial Bank they will have the vehicle through which they would reach and help transform the lives of previously unbanked and commercially ill-equipped people around the country.

Akiba is seeking for two (2) new independent Board members to join the bank's Board of Directors who will also be members the Board Audit Committee. The said Board members will be expected to act value and expertise to help drive the continued growth of the Bank in particular, the main responsibility of the independent Board members is to act independently from the Executive and to ensure that the interests of Shareholders are properly protected in relation to financial reporting and internal control.

The responsibilities of the Board members Include but are not limited to following functions

• Strategic Planning
  
• Financial Reporting
  
• Oversight of Senior Management
  
• Accountability to Shareholders
  
• Risk Management
  
• Internal control
  
• Human capital management

Qualifications/ Experience

• Candidate should hold a minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Auditing or related financial management experience.
  
• Candidate should have a minimum of ten (10) years Senior Management experience preferably in the financial sector.
  
• Previous Board membership experience will be an added advantage. ‘
  
• Candidates should have the highest personal ethics and should possess other skills/competencies in areas that are relevant to Akiba's business activities.
  
• He/she shall not simultaneously serve as a Beard Member or in any executive capacity in other banking institution in Tanzania.
  
• He/she shat not be a current shareholder of the Bank or have any direct or indirect relationship with the Bank.

Duration of appointment
The duration of appointment is three (3) years renewable, subject to performance
