JOB DETAILS:
1. Introduction
Hand in Hand Eastern Africa-Tanzania (HiH EA-TZ) is a registered NGO by the Ministry of Community Development, Gender and Children with a mandate to operate within the United Republic of Tanzania.

The HiH EA (TZ) is part of the global Hand in Hand international network, with independent operations within the Eastern Africa region with a mission to work for the economic and social empowerment of marginalized women, youth and men and therefore the society by supporting the creation of sustainable enterprises and jobs. The organization started operations in Northern Tanzania in august 2016 and rolled out her outreach and promotion in January 2018.Currently, Hand in Hand Tanzania is operating in Arusha and Kilimanjaro regions. Hand in Hand Tanzania has so far mobilized, trained and is training over 18,000 members (83%women,30%youth) who has created over 10,000 enterprises (20% eco-enterprise) and over 15,000 Jobs in the Tanzanian programme.
The organization strives to work with the marginalized communities in the areas of economic and social empowerment using a participatory approach aimed at helping people fight poverty and vulnerability. The HiHEATZ enterprise and job creation approach is based on a philosophy of self-help, providing enterprise training, skills and support to enable people living in poverty, particularly women, to build and sustain independent, market-based, economic activities. This provides for a higher level of income for them and their families, which in turn contribute to greater food security, better education for children, increased access to healthcare, improved housing and overall improved livelihoods.

2.Project Background.
The Expanding the Pipeline (HILTI II) is a three-year project from July 2020 to September 2022, and built on the ongoing HILTI I Project, July 2018 to June 2022, and is funded by THE HILT FOUNDATION. The project is targeting mobilize 4000 Community members, 2,800 Enterprises and create 3,640 jobs. The project is working in three Districts of Kilimanjaro region promoting the development of three Value chains; Poultry (Mwanga), Siha (Cow Dairy) and Banana (Rombo). In Mwanga District, the project is promoting Good Poultry Management Practices such as construction of improved poultry houses, diseases identification and management and linking members with access of inputs, and markets such as hotels, restaurants. In Siha, the project is promoting Good husbandry management practices to increase milk production with high quality and access to market through cooperatives/umbrella of Cow Dairy keepers while In Rombo District the project is promoting access Good Agronomic Practices for Banana, access to Improved Banana Seedlings and linking farmers with available markets.
The long-term goal of the project is building the financial management and entrepreneurial skills of 4000 men and women to enhance their ability to generate income, increase their financial resilience, improve their quality of life, and contribute to their ability to exit the poverty cycle.

3. About Consultancy
To support the project’s members to continue harnessing Good Poultry Management skills, through enhancing Biosecurity, Construction of Poultry improved house and Visiting of nearby selected poultry house, Receiving of Eggs, Day Old Chicks and Month Old Chicks Management, and Sorting at Farm/Hatchery; Fumigation, Incubation and Handling of eggs; Hatching of chicks, dispatch and Transportation DOC and MOC, Rearing Systems, Types of feeds, feeding formulation and Rationing, Poultry Diseases, Vaccine and Vaccination) to launch enterprises. The training sessions aims to expose community members with different Improved Poultry Management Practices for setting up enterprises in their local context. Thus, the proposed training will enable to create members employment opportunities and income generation through poultry farming enterprises. This will be achieved by the specialized skills acquired by members and through the establishment of new poultry members-led enterprises.
The assignment will be done in three clusters of Lang’ata, Mgagao and Kileo of which 300 community members will be trained on improved poultry management practices.

To complete this assignment successfully, the consultant will be required to undertake the following;
Members provided with technical poultry training skills for nine days (9 days), (each center, three days), These centers are Lang’ata, Mgagao and Kileo in Mwanga District.
Contribute to social impacts like poverty reduction and employment creation for low income households, women or youth through skills enhanced that will attract members to venture in the Poultry Farming as a Business.

4. The Scope of work
The consultant will work in close collaboration with the Hand in Hand Tanzania Team to ensure smooth and efficient delivery of the following tasks.

The inception report, including approach, methodology, work plan, and budget for conducting the assignment.

Profile of Technical Experts:
We expect the Technical Expert to demonstrate relevant skills and experience according in the areas:
• Demonstrated expertise and track record on poultry development and training, Animal science and production, Animal health, Veterinary medicine.
• Clear understanding of relevant techniques and approaches in facilitating training, especially in poultry capacity building to community members.
• Experience in participatory training methods
• Demonstrated track record of working with projects targeting farmers and enterprises.
• Knowledge of Gender Inclusion Frameworks in value chains and agro-enterprises in Tanzania.
• Fluency in verbal and written English, Kiswahili considered an advantage.
