JOB DETAILS:
The Sugar Board of Tanzania (SBT) is a regulatory body of the Sugar industry in Tanzania established under section 3 of the Sugar industry Act No. 26 of 2001. Key regulatory functions performed by the Board include: quality control and licensing; data collection, analysis and dissemination; market information; enforcement of law and order; making and enforcing rules and regulations for proper production, processing, marketing, importation and storage of sugarcane and sugar inputs and products.

SBT is inviting applications from suitably qualified Tanzanians to be considered to fill the following vacant position:

DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT, PLANNING & LIAISON

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS
Holder of Master’s Degree in Agriculture/economic Planning, Agricultural Economics or Business Administration or equivalent from a recognized institution. Proven track record of at least seven (7) years work experience in corporate management, three (3) of which in the sugar industry. Experience in Project Management will be an added advantage.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Major

• Maintaining links between SBT and stakeholders of the sugar industry.
• Adviser to the Director General in all sugar industry development issues

Specific

• Monitoring implementation of the Sugar industry Development Plan and the SBT Strategic Plan reporting regularly to the Director General.
• Undertaking pre-investment studies/surveys and soliciting for strategic investors for identified projects.
• Collaborating with the Sugar industry Development Trust Fund Monitoring implementation of agreements between the government and investors in relation to agreed investment plans or programmes.
• Spearheading the development of Small-scale and Household sugar processing projects nation~ wide.
• Carrying out Research studies with a view to introduce Quality Low cost sugar production.
• Promoting development and expansion of sugarcane cultivation, production and marketing of sugar and use of sugar by-products.
• Carrying out Research studies with a view to introduce Quality Low cost sugar production.
• Carrying out research in pricing policy for sugar, sugarcane and related products as per Sugar industry Act.
• Supervising ongoing projects in the sugar industry.
• Performing any other duties as may be directed/assigned by the Director General.

EMPLOYMENT STATUS
Mode of Employment
The Director of Development, Planning and Liaison shall be employed under a renewable contract five (5) years.
