Sumbawanga Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (SUWASA) is an autonomous utility which was established under section 3(1) of Cap.27i2 of 1997, as reviewed by Sect. 60 of Water supply and sanitation Act.No.12 of 2009. Sumbawanga Urban water Supply is charged with the overall responsibility of operation and management of clean water supply and sanitation services in Surnbawanga urban areas within the municipality. Sumbawanga urban Water Supply performs its duties under the supervision of Executive Board of Directors with function and Responsibilities which stipulated in the water works ordinances and MOU..

JOB DETAILS:
The Authority is seeking for qualified and highly motivated human resource to fill the position mentioned below. The qualified Candidates shall be recruited on a renewable contract term of Three years period. The employment contract can be charged from contract term to permanent and pensionable term at the end of the-15¢ period of the contract, this will depend on the performance of the employee.

Qualifications

• Age 25-40 years
  
• Holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Water resources, Civi1/Environmental/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or its equivalent from 21 recognized and a reputable: University/Institution.
  
• Registration with Engineers Registration Board is an added advantage and must be a computer literacy
  

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist in managing water distribution and rationing activities of the water system.
  
• Monitor to ensure that water from the distribution system is not contaminated from customer’s service lines.
  
• Assist in investigating cause of water loss (non-revenue water - NRW) and attends necessary rectification. Attend immediately to customer complaints; regarding lack of water.
  
• Ensure that pipe bursts are repaired in right time and efficiently. Make follow ups of main water distribution pipelines y
  
• Maintain records of breakdowns and solutions thereto. Supervise flushing of water distribution lines and removal of stagnant water and sediments regularly.
  
• Maintain proper records of water distribution. Prepare budget and periodic performance reports as required by management
  
• Perform any other duties related to the above assigned by supervisor.
