The Centre for Maternal and Newborn Health is recruiting a Finance Officer to be based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania on a part time basis to support the delivery of high quality maternal and newborn interventions.
Founded in 1898 and the oldest of its kind in the world, the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) is an internationally recognized centre of excellence for teaching and research in tropical diseases. Through the creation of effective links with governments, NGOs, private organizations and global institutions and by responding to the health needs of communities, LSTM aims to promote improved health, particularly for people of the less developed/resource poorest countries in the tropics and sub-tropics.
The Centre for Maternal & Newborn Health (CMNH) is an active academic unit within LSTM, seeking to improve maternal and newborn health, globally. We have been awarded a contract from UNICEF Tanzania to deliver a package of sustainable, high quality maternal and newborn interventions in the Mbeya and Zanzibar regions. CMNH is recruiting a Finance Officer to support the Senior Technical Officer, on a part time basis based in Dar es Salaam. Primarily, the Finance Officer will ensure adherence to LSTM standards as well as donor and partner reporting requirements. You will line manage the Admin/ Logistics Assistant and ensure implementation of robust finance systems, processes and Standard Operating Procedures across LSTM Tanzania office and projects. Some of the key responsibilities of the Finance Officer include day to day accounting and posting, preparing budgets and financial reports, relationship management with financial authorities and management of monthly cash requirements for projects and programmes.
To be successful, you must possess a University degree in a business-related subject preferably accounting or Business Administration with full professional accounting qualification and working knowledge of MS Office and Quick books accounting software. Your ability to work as a team leader, liaise with staff at all levels both in the UK and in Tanzania is pivotal to your success in the post. Demonstrable experience in finance, budget and administration, operating computerized accounting systems and in internal control systems is essential. You must have strong communication, time and organizational skills, with flexibility in working hours as necessary.
