Job Overview:

A Fuel System Technician for trucks is responsible for ensuring the proper functioning of fuel systems in diesel-powered vehicles. Key responsibilities include:

  • Fuel System Maintenance: Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on truck fuel systems, including fuel injectors, injector pumps, filters, and lines.
  • Diagnostic Services: Utilize specialized diagnostic tools to identify and troubleshoot issues within fuel systems, ensuring efficient fuel delivery and engine performance.
  • Component Replacement: Replace or repair defective fuel system components, adhering to manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
  • Preventative Measures: Conduct regular preventive maintenance tasks to minimize the risk of fuel system failures and extend the lifespan of truck engines.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of inspections, maintenance activities, repairs performed, and parts used, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other technicians and departments to coordinate maintenance schedules and address any fuel system-related concerns promptly.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and environmental regulations when handling fuel system components and performing maintenance tasks.
  • Customer Communication: Provide clear and accurate information to drivers and fleet managers regarding fuel system conditions, necessary repairs, and maintenance recommendations.
  • Any other job assigned by line manager & Supervisor

Qualifications:

  1. Educational Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Veta Level 1 with technical courses or training related to automotive technology, mechanics, or diesel engines.
  • Candidates who have attended a technical or vocational school offering programs in diesel mechanics or automotive technology. Courses related to fuel systems, engine diagnostics, and mechanical repairs are beneficial.

 

  1. Experience
  • Hands-on Experience: Practical experience working with truck engines, fuel systems, and related mechanical components is essential. This may include working as an intern, apprentice, or in a similar entry-level role such as a mechanic assistant or technician.
  • Atleast 3 year of Experience with Fuel System Diagnostics and Repair: Understanding how to troubleshoot and repair fuel system components (like injectors, pumps, filters, tanks, and fuel lines) is critical. Familiarity with diagnosing fuel-related issues, such as fuel delivery problems, poor fuel efficiency, and emissions issues, is often required.
  1. Skills
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills to identify and fix fuel system issues.
  • Knowledge of Fuel Systems: Familiarity with both gasoline and diesel fuel systems, including their components and how they interact with the truck’s engine and exhaust systems.
  • Engine Diagnostics: Ability to use diagnostic tools and software to assess fuel system performance and identify potential issues.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensuring proper installation, maintenance, and repair of fuel system parts is crucial for safety and efficiency.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers to explain issues and solutions.
