OVERVIEW:
The General Manager is responsible for managing continuous ordering and shipment of medical consumables / equipment to various centers and warehouses across Tanzania (both ordering and logistics), managing ordering and shipment of medical equipment for new centers both locally and internationally, and building our distribution business of medical equipment for external customers.
This is a Senior Position in an existing very well-established Medical Company and the candidate may be required to travel up-country to meet clients and market the products.
The General Manager manages a team of Medical Sales representatives and Bio-Engineers and is directly responsible for selling medical equipment to different types of clients such as hospitals, outreach clinics, physicians, general practitioners and pharmacists..

Duties and Responsibilities
• Manage procurement and distribution and evolve supply chain to match the Company’s rapid growth and increasing geographic dispersion
• Build and maintain relationships with large, medium, and small suppliers for procurement both locally and internationally
• Establish and maintain vendor contact to place, follow up, and expedite orders to ensure deliveries meet targeted schedule
• Manage relationships with Regulatory authorities like Tanzania Food & Drug Authority (TFDA), TBS etc to ensure rapid processing of licenses and special permits and shipping agents to ensure rapid clearing of medical product imports
• Check inventory, re-order, and ensure that critical medical equipment is always in stock
• Interface with various Clients’ Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Operating Officer (COO) and other responsible personnel to ensure that backup-service & essential equipment are readily stocked an available
• Build shipment schedule from our warehouse to centers, coordinate, assemble and package clinic / warehouse orders for shipment, and arrange appropriate logistics
• Scale current supply chain to meet growth needs and increasing geographic dispersion
• Learn and maintain warehouse software to reflect current inventory levels
• Receive incoming supplies and place supplies in proper place
• Supervise Technical and Marketing Personnel for optimal delivery
FURTHERMORE, THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST:
• Contribute to contract negotiations and help build business plan
• Identify and work with vendors to facilitate reliable equipment shipment
• Proactively solve inevitable shipment problems as they come up with little oversight
• Build relationships with supplier and communicate closely
• Form and maintain customer relationships
• Process customer orders promptly and work with Financial Controller to generate invoices
• Respond promptly to customer needs (1 business day response policy always) and deliver excellent customer experience
• Perform any other related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Management

He must be self-motivated, good listener and communicator and have commercial awareness, sales skills, maturity, confidence, patience, strong interpersonal and communication skills, be passionate and knowledgeable with minimum supervision and provide successful management to achieve company goals. He must work tenaciously to monitor sales pace, willing to travel and establish contacts with key personnel in the medical industry to forecast present and future needs of medical equipment and spares (after sales-support). He will increase product awareness, answer queries, provide advice and introduce new products
