The Hospital is located at Ifakara town in Morogoro region; it offers comprehensive cancer services that include investigations, diagnosis and treatment. General Surgeon(1 position)
Job Descriptions
• Take thorough history and physical examination
• Make diagnosis and determine the need and aim for surgery.
• Review patient medical history and plan the best treatment pro-cedure.
• Evaluate and advise patients on the risk involved with his/her surgery.
• Perform surgical procedures to prevent or correct injury, disease, deformities and patient function while adhering to regulatory and ethical protocols.
• Performing surgical procedures to remove tumors and send then for pathological evaluation.
• Conduct pre and postoperative ward rounds - Oversee all treatment prior to and post-surgery, and identify associated risks.
• Coordinate follow up clinics after any surgical procedure.
• Schedule patients for multi – disciplinary tumors boards.
• Ensure sterility in the operating rooms for all equipment and instruments.
• Maintain the highest regard for patient dignity and observe the precepts of patient rights.
• Manage surgical services, including planning, scheduling, coordination, determination of procedures, and procurement of sup-plies and equipment.
• Conduct research to develop and test new surgical techniques in order to improve quality in different (simple and complex) surgical procedures.
• Prepare and participate in Continuous Medical Trainings as scheduled.
• Keeping up to date with current practices and innovations.
• Refer patient to medical specialist or other practitioner when necessary.
• To perform any other related duties and responsibilities as may be directed by Director of Medical Services/Hospital administrator/Managing director
Qualifications
• Master of medicine in Surgery from an accredited university
• Holder of Certificate of full registration as a medical practitioner from Medical Council of Tanganyika (MCT)
• At least one (2 Years) of experience in reputable institutions
Additional Certifications
Computer Literate
Other Competences
• Ability to operate on Oncology cases
• Ability to discuss sensitive information with patients and families.
• Ability to provide a calm presence for patients in distress.
• Ability to make decisions quickly and stay calm under pressure.
• Eager to learn from others
• Work under minimum supervision
Work Hours: 8
Experience in Months: 24
Level of Education: Postgraduate Degree
