JOB DETAILS:
Materials/Pavement Engineer
Renardet is seeking to employ a Materials / Pavement Engineer for the on-going project in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. The Materials/Pavement Engineer shall work on fulltime basis to assist in oversight of construction, design review and provide technical advice for works relating to construction of both flexible and rigid pavements.

The scope of services will include but not limited to the following:
• Assist in the implementation, inspection, testing and acceptance of pavement and structural Works.
• Advice and assist in the selection of materials and design mixes required for pavement and structural Works.
• Provide advice on materials, working practices and testing procedures required for pavement and structural Works.
• Review construction method statements and procedures.
• Assist in inspections and approvals of laboratory tests, and provide advice on interpretation of test results.
• Monitor, review and assist in approval processes for Contractor’s quality assurance and quality control systems and procedures for all materials and works, including proposed sampling and testing procedures, laboratory establishment and procedures and reporting of results.
• Review and provide comment on quality control test results and certificates for all pavement materials and works.
• Carry out visual pavement inspections and provide site specific recommendations when necessary,for site investigations and testing
• Perform any other tasks relevant to the Project as shall be required by TANROADS.

Required Skills:
The Materials/Pavement Engineer should have broad experience in quality control and testing of various soil materials, concrete and concrete products as well as asphalt mix designs. The candidate should be fully conversant with road construction, supervision of works, as well as design of pavements.
Specific attributes shall be as follows:
• Must be professionally registered by relevant authorities;
• Must be a Civil Engineer with a degree in Civil Engineering preferably with a postgraduate qualification in materials;
• Must have a minimum of ten (10) years of hands on experience related to road construction and rehabilitation practices, experience in the supervision of works and materials’ testing;
• Must have a sound knowledge of pavement engineering;
• Must have served as Materials Engineer on at least two (2) projects of similar magnitude and complexity;
• Must be fluent in written and spoken English language.
