JOB DETAILS:
Job summary
Network monitoring on shift basis.
Reports to Senior Systems Administrator
Job Responsibility:
• Network Monitoring and troubleshooting using monitoring tools such as Nagios, Cacti and Smokeping.
• Troubleshooting Habari clients connections problems as reported.
• Working with customers to identify their connection problems and advise on the solution.
• Supporting clients on domains, emails and other server related services.
• Logging clients’ queries and report to respective department for further troubleshooting.
• Installation of fiber and wireless clients’ connection.
• Configuration of different network equipment such as routers, switches and access points.
• Installation and troubleshooting of different network services such as DHCP, DNS, mail, proxy, directory services, pbx, file sharing, web and NTP.
• Troubleshooting power related issues on the network.
Required Skills
• Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Nagios, Cacti and Smokeping.
• Understanding of OSI layer and how it works.
• Experience of working with different operating system (Linux, Windows and Mac OS).
• Strong communication, problem solving and customer support skills.
• Understanding of fiber and wireless networks.
• Possession of recognized ICT professional certification such as MTCA, CCNA, MCSE will be added advantage.
• Understanding of routing protocols basically OSPF, BGP, MPLS and basic knowledge of advanced network services such VLANS, VPN, FIREWALLS.
• Basic knowledge on Servers (both Linux and Windows)
• Strong recording, monitoring, follow up and reporting skills on clients problem till they are resolved.
• Basic knowledge of electrical principles.
• Fluently writing and speaking of English and Kiswahili.
Qualification and Experience
• A degree or Diploma in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Information Technology from a recognized University or Institution.
• One year experience on the above fields of qualification(s).
