Job Summary:
The iob provides information to plan, organize coordinate and optimize day-to-day Oil Seeds preparation for edible oil production operations and seeds for direct selling by ensuring that the correct equipment, materials, management, controls, and methods are in place and used with strategic plans to achieve set goals and objectives..

What you will do:
To plan, organize, coordinate and optimize day-to-day Oil Seeds preparation for edible oil production operations and seeds for direct selling by ensuring that the correct equipment, materials, management, controls, and methods are in place and used with strategic plans to achieve set goals and objectives.
FACTORY BUDGET, OIL SEED, EDIBLE OIL & SEED CAKE PRODUCTION
• Coordinates oil seed preparation for edible oil production and/or for unprocessed oil seed sales,
• Ensures that oil production chain meets the food and environmental quality parameters and in compliance with TFDA, TBS and international standards: With Head of factory Operations reviews the AOP, decides on edible oil processing schedules/orders or oil seed direct sales orders with local and international customers;
• Receives the oil-processing program from the Head of Factory Operations, plans with the processing team and advises the quantity and quality/brandand batch numbers to be covered in that run of the Oil to be processed or unprocessed seeds to be sold;
• Checks that edible oil produced meets required quality parameters, local market and international standards;
• Checks that unprocessed oil seed for direct sales meets required parameters for local and international market standards
• Compares actual edible oil processing results against the set quality targets and decides on what processing parameters need to be adjusted to best suite improvements
• Advises the Head of Factory Operations on the changes improvements required to meet/sustain processing standards;
• Analysis processing equipment faults with the Plant Technicians and takes relevant corrective action;
• Checks and ensures availability of a sustainable mechanism in oil production quality checks, food safety, environmental compliance and the plant's evolving maintenance program;
• Receives daily oil extraction process ( crude oil & seed cake), refining process (neutralization bleaching, deodorization and packing finished product) and reports to the Head of Factory Operations;
• Checks that packed Oil quality is checked, certified and approved by statutory authorities;
• Prepares annual financial budget for Oil Seeds preparation for edible oil production operations in the ; Factory in line with Pyxus Agricultural Tanzania Ltd AOP and for approval by the Head of Factory Operations;
• Reviews budget proposals from different factory sections, for inclusion in the edible oil production annual financial budget proposal;
• Prepares the factory Operations budget and submits to the Head of Factory Operations for final approval;
• Coordinates the monthly expenditure from the factory Accountant, reviews the budget, identifies variances and advises the Head of Factory Operations;
• Sets plant priorities on safety culture, implements company policies, cost management and capital discipline;
• Oversight for capital expenditures taking place in the area of responsibility, in addition to investigating potential cost-savings projects;
• Maintains the relationships with Pyxus Agriculture Tanzania Limited customers, attends operational workshops, prepares and presents required product findings and recommendations in line with Pyxus International Inc. and Pyxus Agriculture Tanzania Limited strategic plans Through the relevant management teams, ensures full awareness and understanding of oil seed, edible oil and seed cake production operations in Tanzania and manages the relationships with customers through the agreed reporting lines and communication procedures;
• Attends Operational Customers and Pyxus Agricultural Tanzania Ltd Planning and Financial workshops, prepares, presents and agrees on the required strategic product analysis, findings and recommendations
PACKAGING & RAW MATERIALS COORDINATION
• Obtains crop estimate from the Head of Factory Operations, checks that correct packing materials are available, monitors the packing material stock, and checks that processing equipment are functionally correct daily With the inventory Coordinator checks that correct packing materials are available all the time to support production operations and informs the Factory Manager; Obtains a crop estimate from the Head of Factory Operations prior to the start of the processing season in order towork out the quantity and quality of packing materials required for the entire season and informs the factory Manager;
• Checks occasionally on packing materials stocks / orders against crop projection processing volume;
• Does daily inspection of packing materials prior and post packing to check for material conformity;
• Checks that the correct volumes and quality of packing materials are available, monitors usage depending on customer and crop requirements plans for reduction or increase in quantity in line with processing program, TFDA, TBS and international standards:
• Monitors production costs associated with yield maximisation, oil production, packaging material and utilities and informs the Head of Factory Operations;
• Conducts daily checks on process control machines to check that the equipment is operating correctly;
• Checks that processing equipment are functionally correct, and follow ups defects for corrective action: to the relevant plant technician;
BOILER, OIL MILLAND OIL REFINERY STAFF MANAGEMENT
• Checks and ensures that the Boiler, Oil Mill and Oil Refinery sections are operating effectively to ensure ; adequate edible oil and seed cake production in compliance with Pyxus Agriculture Tanzania Ltd, TFDA, TBS and international standards Checks and supervises the efficiency of the Boiler through the Boiler Technician/Operators, by measuring fuel and water consumption and ensuring maximum boiler effectiveness as per Pyxus Agricultural Tanzania Ltd Annual Operating Plan;
• Checks and supervises the efficiency running of Oil Mill and Oil Refinery through the Plant Technician/ i Operators, in line with Pyxus Agriculture Tanzania Ltd Annual Operating Plan;
• Meets with Plant Technicians to convey the specific set targets and methods to enhance the oil and seed cake production;
• Sets performance objectives to ensure that the Factory meets its agreed goals and objectives, meets factory staff on a daily basis, identifies and agrees key result areas, key objectives/tasks and action plans;
• Supervises the performance of the factory team on a daily basis, identifies performance strengths and weaknesses, takes appropriate action through the Factory Manager and Human Resources Department:
• Ensures quality standards and production optimization in conjunction with the Quality Assurance Section, and maximize production through the Processing Coordinator,
• Checks the correct implementation, maintenance and adherence to the Company Risk, Compliance, SHE, Security, Fire and iso requirements as per Local and Regional Regulatory Laws and Procedures In conjunction with the Factory Manager, ensures the identification and management of potential risk to, and by the Company in compliance with Tanzania and International Legal requirements and in line with Pyxus Agriculture Tanzania Limited and Pyxus International Inc. Risk and Compliance Regulations and Procedures;

Who you are and what you've done:
• Degree in Bioprocess and Post-Harvest Engineering or similar (Essential)
• Post Graduate Degree in Bioprocess and Post-Harvest Engineering or similar (Desirable)

Experience:
• Related experience, with 4 to 6 years in Agricultural food processing Industry or similar (4 to 6 years) (Essential)
• Work history in refining, bleaching, water treatment and deodorization. Dewaxing is a plus (Essential)

  Knowledge Areas
• Oil processing planning and operations (Essential)
• Knowledge of all functions of the oil business in Tanzania (Essential)
• Knowledge and understanding of Pyxus International structures, business and operations (Essential)
