Road Traffic Injury (RTI) is the leading cause of death and disability for children over age five in Africa. It is estimated that the situation in sub-Saharan Africa will become worse in the coming years. By 2050, the population of Africa will grow by more than a billion people.
Africa's motorisation rate is one of the fastest globally, with thousands of vehicles added to the roads every day. Amend conducts a variety of activities relating to road safety in Africa, some of which are: scientific studies, advocacy for road safety, its School Area Road Safety Assessment and Implementation (SARSAI), the production of road safety events, road safety media campaigns, road safety education, the social marketing of reflector-enhanced schoolbags, project design and management.
