We have an exciting opportunity to join a team dedicated to implementing programmes aimed at building Resilient and Empowered Adolescents and Young people (READY). With your programme management skills, technical expertise in HIV/AIDS and SRHR, as well as a passion for putting things in order, you will help us deliver on our promise to never leave young people behind. You will take operational responsibility for key aspects of project delivery for designated projects including the development of costed partner work plans, monitoring and improving programme quality and fidelity to programme design, taking responsibility for the development of partner contracts. These programmes aim to design, develop and scale innovative practice that will have a clear impact on the HIV epidemic in line with our strategy. The role will have ‘project manager’ responsibilities and be accountable for expenditure within their signing authority. You will take responsibility for working with partners to ensure high levels of quality in delivery including grant management, technical aspects, financial management, monitoring and evaluation and communication. You will be the first point of call for all project management issues with partners and be ready to trouble shoot and mitigate risks proactively with them. This may include close accompaniment and visits to the region. You will have delegated authority to take decisions that impact on project delivery and will be closely supported by the Lead: Programmes who will lead on the consortium and oversight of the portfolio of projects that make up the READY portfolio. Where appropriate, you may also be called on to support or lead other project delivery as part of a balanced portfolio of work.
Design, deliver and review a programme of accompaniment for a set of Frontline AIDS partners who are delivering the READY programmes. This will include working with in house and external expertise to support on issues of finance, organisational development and HIV technical issues. You will lead on brokering knowledge exchange, relationship development and trouble shoot between partners, particularly at national level. You will support the development in partner capabilities in the area of gender equality, safeguarding, meaningful engagement of young people in their diversity and quality improvement.
Working with a group of subject matter experts ensure programme delivery is of high quality and reflects innovative and best practice in any given area. Contribute to and lead learning reviews on aspects of programme delivery.

Due to the continuing effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, the role will initially be based at home. As soon as the easing of restrictions allow, the successful applicant will be required to spend time working alongside their team as appropriate in our offices in Cape Town (South Africa). The successful applicant will therefore need to either hold, or be able to obtain, the right to work in South Africa.
We would also welcome applications from candidates who are based in Tanzania, Eswatini, Mozambique or Zimbabwe. The salary will be locally benchmarked for these countries.
