JOB DETAILS:
Position: Sub-Editor - Sports Desk - The Guardian
Department: Editorial
Reporting Channel: Managing Editor
Place: Dar es Salaam
JOB PURPOSE
Duties and Responsibilities
• Checking and correcting editorial copy allocated by Sports Editor for facts, accuracy, taste, compliance with TGL house style, language use, clarity, details, objectivity, spelling.
• Rewriting the copy as necessary for simplicity, clarity and compliance with the newspaper's house style.
• Editing photos/illustrations selected by Sports Editor to fit allocated space and writing/rewriting captions taking care not to give obvious details.
Minimum Qualification and Experience
• Bachelor's Degree in journalism
• At least four years' experience in journalism, in part as sub editor - Mastery of English and Kiswahili
• Knowledge of any other language will be an added advantage
Work Hours: 8
Experience in Months: 48
Level of Education: Bachelor Degree
