JOB DETAILS:
Qualifications required:
• Master’s degree (or equivalent diploma) in urban planning, urban economics, urban policy, engineering, architec-ture, geography or other directly related disciplines;
• Excellent knowledge of urban development and planning, related policies and best practices;
• Knowledge of development aid delivery methods;
• Excellent ability to write well structured, concise and convincing analytical reports;
• Excellent written and oral communication skills;
• Excellent facilitation skills for meetings and events;
• Fluency (C2 level) in English is required;
• Knowledge of EU development cooperation would be an asset;
• Knowledge of French (minimum B2) and/or Spanish (minimum B2) and/or Portuguese (minimum B2) would be an asset.
• Professional experience required:
• At least 10 years of professional experience, including: at least 3 years in the context of international development cooperation and at least 5 years working on sustainable urban development (e.g. urban planning, urban basic services provision, urban finance, urban resilience, urban social or economic development). Relevant assignments may count for both the international development cooperation experience requirement and the sustainable urban development experience requirement;
• Proven professional experience as Team Leader on at least 2 long-term assignments (i.e. each minimum - 1 year (220 working days full time equivalents));
• Professional experience in situ in developing countries15 of at least 2 years (cumulatively);
• Proven professional experience in urban or spatial planning;
• Experience in conducting studies and/or analysis (including for instance pre-feasibility or feasibility studies, diagnos-tics, urban or spatial master or sectorial plans) in the area of urban development;
• Conduction of the above-mentioned studies and/or analysis in developing countries would be an asset.
