RSK’s first work in Africa was in Angola in 2001 supporting clients working on offshore deepwater prospects with environmental impact assessment (EIA) services. Now, we operate in countries across the continent providing a range of services that includes environmental, social and health impact assessments (ESHIA) and attendant management plans; site investigation and remediation of soil and groundwater pollution; due diligence; and an array of other services, including social milieu requirements for oil and gas, mining, industrial and government clients. As a service provider to oil, gas and extractive industries in Africa, we have built an array of local partnerships across the continent with whom we provide country-appropriate solutions delivered as per international standards.
Technician for electrical and mechanical plant fabrication and maintenance – Dar es Salaam
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technician to join RSK Environment (East Africa) Ltd to help us deliver environmental remediation services (clean-up of soil and groundwater) in the country. If you are focused, committed and ready to take on new challenges, then read on.
Key responsibilities will include:
• Preparation of equipment for a diverse range of projects
• Mobilisation and setup of soil and water treatment plant on sites across Tanzania
• Routine servicing and maintenance of electrical and mechanical process equipment
• Planning the above activities
• Adherence to company safety, health environment and quality (SHEQ) management system procedures and embracing our safety culture
The role will involve a combination of workshop and site-based tasks with this balance varying dependent on company needs and current project profiles. Candidates will need to be prepared for working away from home on a regular basis with travel throughout Tanzania. Training with be provided with respect to the operation of RSK remediation equipment.
Person specification:
• No previous experience is required; however, the right candidate will have a keen interest in mechanical engineering or work experience in a comparable practical industry.
• A proven interest in mechanical engineering (DIY, plumbing, working on car) and a hands-on approach to work
• Ability to travel and work away
• Organised and motivated self starter
• Strong attention to detail
• Good time keeping
• Full Clean driving licence preferred
• English and Swahili language skills (verbal and written)
