Position: Business Development Manager

Mwananchi Communications Limited (MCL), a subsidiary of Nation Media Group (NMG), is Tanzania’s largest independent news network with an award-winning presence in print and digital media. MCL is a leading publisher of national news brands Mwananchi, The Citizen, and Mwanaspoti in both print and digital formats. MCL is now looking for a Business Development Manager to help drive digital and print revenue, grow relationships with clients, and identify new business opportunities in the digital industry.

Main Responsibilities:
• Develop strategic plans, negotiate schedules, and communicate results or issues to management.
• Work closely with the sales team on print and digital media plans and program opportunities.
• Stay up-to-date with trends and developments in the digital industry to identify new business opportunities.
• Identify new opportunities for monetization and create integrated concepts.
• Provide feedback and market intelligence to identify gaps in the market and potential partnership opportunities.
• Build and grow relationships with decision-makers and influencers within major clients and ad agencies.
• Pursue new advertising and revenue opportunities, and create concepts in collaboration with clients and internal teams.
• Strategize for growth and maximize share of category spends on digital platforms.
• Support partnership and acquisition discussions.
• Report on ad sales, impressions, and related metrics.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
• Academic Qualification: Bachelor’s degree.
• Experience: 2-3 years, with extensive experience in a product role, particularly from a content, publishing, or media background.
