Position: Market Development Executive – Upcountry (Mbeya, Tanga)

Mwananchi Communications Limited (MCL), a subsidiary of Nation Media Group (NMG), is Tanzania’s largest independent news network. MCL is a prominent player in print and digital media, and we are seeking a motivated and experienced Market Development Executive to join our team in the Mbeya and Tanga regions. This role focuses on increasing copy sales and developing relationships with partners in the distribution channel to meet set sales targets while maintaining an optimal return level.

Key Responsibilities:
• Brand Visibility: Ensure the visibility of MCL brands in respective markets.
• Sales Promotion: Coordinate the sale and distribution of newspapers in areas served by franchised wholesale distributors, and provide guidance on sales techniques to vendors, drivers, and distributors.
• Sales Potential Survey: Survey urban and suburban areas to determine newspaper sales potential, using statistical tables, and recommend new outlets for sales growth.
• Delivery Route Management: Organize and lay out home and office delivery routes, including the organization of carrier crews.
• Sales Analysis: Analyze sales statistics to assist management with circulation planning and to improve sales performance.
• Sales Scheduling & Reporting: Schedule deliveries and distributions of newspapers, report on competitor activities, and gather reader feedback.
• Promotional Activities: Write promotional bulletins for dealers and carriers about special sales promotions and offers.
• Performance Evaluation: Evaluate distributor and vendor sales performance daily and arrange for the sale of newspapers at special events or editions.
• Delivery Inspections: Inspect routes to ensure timely and regular newspaper deliveries to distributors, vendors, homes, and offices.
• Complaint Resolution: Resolve distributor and vendor complaints by investigating and providing solutions.
• Account Management: Investigate delinquent accounts and assist in collections.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
• University Degree in Business-related field.
• 2 to 3 years of working experience, preferably in a similar role, and ideally residing in the area applied for (Mbeya or Tanga).
• Strong sales and distribution knowledge, with the ability to develop and maintain relationships with partners.
