The Hospital is located at Ifakara town in Morogoro region; it offers comprehensive cancer services that include investigations, diagnosis and treatment. Job Descriptions
To provide quality, competent, clinical care that enhances the wellbeing of patients.
This will be achieved by:
• Understands the enrolled nurse role and boundaries in relation to scopes of practice within the registered nurses delegation.
• Demonstrating accountability and responsibility within the healthcare team when assisting or working under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
• Demonstrating competence and application of the following clinical skills such as wound care, preparation and assistance with minor surgery, collection of specimens, vital sign monitoring, teaching breast self examination, giving basic dietary advice and health promotion.
• Undertaking the preliminary aspects of health assessments under the guidance of a registered nurse.
To provide nursing care in accordance with appropriate professional and GSCH standards.
This will be achieved by:
• Clearly documenting all care and education provided
• Using the patient information system skillfully
To provide a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, visitors and other staff.
This will be achieved by:
• Safe disposal and cleaning and/or sterilizing of all equipment used in patient care.
• Using Standard Precautions when dealing with body substances
• Appropriate use and disposal of 'sharps
• Being aware of, and reporting any occupational hazards identified
• Following GSCH policy to report untoward events/ incidents/errors.
• Taking responsibility for your own health and wellbeing
To maximize personal development
This will be achieved by:
• Completing all orientation and induction requirements
• Taking up opportunities to improve your skills and knowledge through continuing Nursing Education activities
• Maintaining a professional portfolio which demonstrates competency to practice
• Participating in annual personal performance review
To utilize treatment and care resources appropriately.
This will be achieved by:
• Reporting needs for stock reordering, and involvement in checking orders as appropriate
• Using and checking equipment and facilities correctly, reporting any need for maintenance, or replacement
To participate in quality improvement activities.
This will be achieved by:
Attending nurse team and practice team meetings
To support and collaborate with peers and other providers within the wider health care team
This will be achieved by:
• Discussing patient care issues with other colleagues involved as needed
• Working constructively within the wider multi-disciplinary team within GSCH
• Being an honest, open communicator who demonstrates respect for other staffs, patients and all persons.
• Any other ad hoc requests from the Head of department/ Administration
Qualifications
• Holder two (2) years Certificate in Nursing.
• Must have a valid Licence to Practice.
• Must have at least two (2 Years) of experience in reputable institutions.
Additional Certifications
Certificate in Computer application programs
Other Competences
• Fluent in English and Swahili
• Team Player
• Eager to learn from others
• Work under minimum supervision
