One of the recent projects in its program portfolio is The Tanzania Milk Processing Project (TMPP), an ambitious 18 Months Project designed to increase the incomes of smallholder dairy farmers in Tanzania through better access to reliable, high-value markets while ensuring processors have access to increased supply of high-quality milk in Njombe, Rungwe, Tanga, Kilimanjaro, Arusha and Morogoro. In responsive to this project needs, the Country Program is seeking to recruit competent candidates for the following positions .

FUNCTION: The Field Assistant (FA) (SCD &Quality) will be responsible for providing technical support and guidance to a team of Community Facilitators (CFs) and Community Agro-veterinary Entrepreneurs (CAVES) in the roll out of Production, Feeds and Gender and social capital development (SCD) activities at Producer Organization (PO), Dairy Interest Group (DIG) and Exponential Pass on the Gift (POG) groups within areas where TMPP operates.
S/he will provide onsite (field) technical support in transforming dairy farming from subsistence into farming as a business (income generation) which apart from catering nutrition will also be generating income, hence improving farmers' livelihoods. S/he will also support farmers to establish vibrant milk marketing groups to exploit economies of scale. From time to time, the Field Assistant will be coaching PO leadership to exploic and foster milk and other businesses around the PO, S/he will be responsible in supporting farmers to explore business connections with other key market players such input suppliers and milk processors within and beyond the milk shed.

ESSENTIAL CHARACTER TRAITS: Confident, Positive, Flexible, Values-Oriented, Enthusiastic, Passionate about community empowerment Diploma or Bachelor Degree in Community Development, Gender and Development, Social Development, Rural Development or any other relevant field plus three (3) years in a mix of dairy production and value chain competitiveness, or agriculture development and experience in community group formation and strengthening.
