JOB DETAILS:
Duties and Responsibilities
• Design livestock production plans in the district;
• Coordinate livestock production in small and large livestock farms;
• Assist in coordinating extension programs related to livestock production in the district;
• Coordinating and conducting training on animal husbandry, livestock production for veterinary experts and pastoralists;
• To review and revise the livestock market infrastructure in his district and region;
• Design, initiate and implement livestock development projects in the district;
• Conducting resource surveys (livestock survey) eg livestock, animal feed, feed etc. in its area of work;
• Conduct training for agents, dealers and experts on safe practices in stockpiling and distributing livestock inputs;
• Investigating new areas suitable for diversification;
• Co assess the environmental damage caused by pastoralism in the district;
• Participate in animal / pest control activities;
• Monitoring, keeping, analyzing and interpreting livestock production statistics;
• Preparing a general report on livestock development;
• To perform other duties related to his or her profession as directed by his or her supervisor

Qualification and Experience
• Employed with a degree in Animal Science or Agricultural Science specializing in Animal Science from Sokoine Agricultural University or from another Government recognized college.
