JOB DETAILS:
Duties:
• Manage and grow the company apiary in Tongwe West Forest Reserve Katavi (Region)
• Be responsible to achieve maximum production from the companies’ hives (currently 600)
• Participate in all work done at the apiary, including siting hives in trees, lowering hives from trees for inspection and harvesting, all camp duties, including cooking and the preparation of fire breaks
• Be responsible for accurate record keeping at the apiary
• Establish a beekeeping calendar for the apiary
• Lead the team of apiary staff by example and ensure they are trained continually in best practice apiary management

Duty Station:
Third Man Ltd Apiary Camp, Tongwe West Forest Reserve, Katavi Region (closest town = Uvinza about 30 km away).
Requirements – Selection Criteria:

Must have:
• Diploma/Degree in Beekeeping or other RELEVANT discipline
• Proven practical experience in managing topbar and Langstroth beehives in the forest
• Proven ability to make decisions and take responsibility
• Ability and willingness to site hives in trees
• Proven ability to solve problems
• Able to work independently
• Proven ability to manage staff
• Proven ability to manage funds
• Basic knowledge of MS Word and MS excel
• Willingness to live full time on site at the apiary camp

Advantage:
• Experience with traditional hives
• Motorbike licence and ability to drive
• Practical skills eg carpentry, construction
