BESIX Ballast Nedam (BBN) Limited, the CONTRACTOR for the Engineering, Procurement and Construction of the Jetty and Load out Facilities in the Tanga Bay for the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) Project, invites job application for Boat Operator - Boat Operator – Small Craft with Outdoor
Engines.

Purpose and scope of assignment
The main objective of boat operator is to operate, maintain and navigate boats safely and efficiently. It also includes preparing and inspecting boats before trips, ensure availability of proper safety equipment’s onboard, checking weather and forecast, steering boat and ensure compliance of all laws, handling of emergency situation and regulations governing boat operations.

Job responsibilities
• Navigate the boat in accordance with relevant regulations and safety standards.
• Maintain and clean the boat.
• Communicate with passengers and other crafts.
• Organize and supervise loading and unloading of goods or passengers.
• Monitor weather conditions and adjust the boats speed and route accordingly.
• Engage in handling the Crew boats for transporting personnel and to approach the units, eg Flat top barges, Crane Barges, Self-elevated platform (SEP) and Tugs.
• Transport of equipment and persons between ports and units by going bow bushing against the embarkation ladder or using monkey basket in sheltered and open areas and in shallow waters most of the time.
• Operators should fulfill the daily maintenance of the boat to the best of the safe practice and good seamanship.
• Implement company standards and orders regarding health & safety, pollution, drugs, alcohol and general housekeeping.

Job qualification, experience and skills.
Applicant should possess the following.
• Must have valid certificate of mandatory courses as per the conventional, at least including following, First Aid (elementary medical studies), Personal survival, Firefighting, Social responsibilities and Preventing marine pollution.
• Good knowledge of boat handling and navigation
• Ability to respond to emergency situations
• Continuous experience of not less than two years
• Operator should be medically fit for the job and proven by clear statement of health.
