Call For Consultancy Proposal For Undertaking Socio – Economic Baseline Survey In The Western Kilimanjaro And Mkomazi Sub – Landscapes For Bmz Unganisha Project
Background BMZ UNGANISHA is a transboundary project that seeks to restore key natural resources across the expansive landscape to bring benefits to wildlife and people. The project is designed and aligned to the WWF SOKNOT program which is envisioned to make sure that people and nature are thriving. The project is focusing on securing critical wildlife corridors and therefore working on addressing various drivers in critical forests, farmlands, rangeland ecosystems and wildlife corridors for the benefit of biodiversity and people.

World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) jobs in TanzaniaSOKNOT-UNGANISHA landscape comprises of three ecosystems i.e., the Mau-Mara-Serengeti, Amboseli-West Kilimanjaro and Tsavo-Mkomazi sub-landscapes with key habitats including wildlife dispersal areas and corridors connecting a network of protected areas. However, the BMZ Unganisha project will only focus on two ecosystems related to Kilimanjaro Amboseli and part of the Tsavo-Mkomazi ecosystem.
In the Unganisha region and its sub-landscapes, currently there is limited information on key interventions, resulting in lack of baseline information on key interventions, socio-economic situation – especially of vulnerable (marginal) groups – and detailed structure and exact number of target groups, participatory workshops with landscape stakeholders and target groups at the beginning of the project. This leads to uncoordinated actions hence some difficulties to leverage synergies, lessons learned, collaboration, scaling, and replication of successful activities.
The Overall Purpose The overall purpose of the consultancy is to design a socio-economic baseline of the targeted project, particularly to ascertain the social and economic status of vulnerable (marginal) groups in West Kilimanjaro and Mkomazi sublandscapes.
