JOB DETAILS:

Salary Currency: Tanzanian Shilling

The following are preferred in a candidate:

• Certificate or diploma in social work
  
• Those with personal lived experiences of living outside of family care in Orphanage setting or otherwise.
  
• Those interested in Foster care of children.
  
• An understanding of Alternative care.
  
• Training in First aid, Trauma informed care, HIV management are all seen as favorable.
  
• Translation skills from Swahili to English is preferred.
  
• +2 years experience directly caring for children.
  

The following is essential in a candidate:

• Must be able to read and write in English and Swahili confidently.
  
• Must believe in Children’s rights and No forms of physical punishment for children.
  
• There is a ZERO tolerance policy for physical or verbal abuse of children.
  
• Must have a deep respect and care for children.
  
• Able to work with children with challenging behaviors and some understanding of

Trauma is beneficial.

• Must believe in family based care.
  
• At least 1–2 years experience with children and ability to provide references of your work.
  
• Need to be comfortable to fully commit to living in Tanga.
  
• Must be able to work well with parents and caregivers.
  

Candidates will need to display a strong philosophy of care when it comes to children.

We ask that you are comfortable and equipped to deal with a wide range of behaviors in children in a calm and consistent manner through positive discipline and will be able to comply fully with our zero tolerance policy to physical punishment or harsh or humiliating forms of verbal threats.

The ideal candidate has a deep passion for working with young children aged 0-6 and understands the needs of children and for them working with children is more than just a job. They believe that early childhood interventions help to shape a child’s future and they believe strongly in working to support children from hard backgrounds.

They work well as part of a team and communicate effectively and clearly with their team members. They have the ability to identify needs of children and work with a team to help address those needs through training and modeling good care going practices.
