JOB DETAILS:
Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGML) is Tanzania’s leading gold producer with a single operation in Geita Region. The company is a subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti, an international gold producer headquartered in South Africa, with operations in more than ten countries, in four continents. The mine is situated in the Lake Victoria Gold fields of Northwestern Tanzania, only about 85 km’s from Mwanza City and 20 km’s Southeast of the nearest point of Lake Victoria. The company has its head office in Geita, only 5 Km’s west of the fast-growing town of Geita, and also a supporting office in Dar es Salaam. Position: Engineer 1 – (SIB) Project
Contract type & Duration: Unspecified Time Contract

Reporting to: Superintendent 2 – Capital & Project
Number of Positions: One (1)

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
Coordinating all project elements including engineering design, quality planning, manufacturing, installation, commissioning, and final buy-off phases as well as ensuring the project remains within budget to meet the requirements of the customer’s needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or its equivalent.
• Registered with a recognized professional board i.e., ERB as professional engineer is an added advantage.

EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum of 2 years working experience in Mining or related industry.

MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Develop Conceptual designs in conjunction with Project Owners or other stakeholders.
• Prepare Project scopes including engineering specifications for tendering purposes.
• Prepare schedule and resource forecasting for specific engineering activities including tracking.
• Ensure accuracy of financial forecasts which tie-in to Project schedules.
• Inter-discipline coordination and overall quality control of engineering work.
• Conducting progress review and safety meetings with contractors as per schedule.
• Provide guidance to supervisors during project construction with respect to maintaining safety at tie-in points and other construction manoeuvres.
• Support pre-commissioning and commissioning tests and operational activities.
• Prepare & Review engineering submittals including P&ID, flow diagrams, design calculations, concept drawings, component specifications and bills of materials for both surface and underground mine projects.
• Lead for the project installation of all Mechanical structures and equipment’s, associated piping, electrical and instrumentation.
• Pre-Construction and Pre-Bid conferences to review contract requirements and project scope as well as resolving field concerns.
• Prepare instruction/operating manuals and specifications, based on equipment specifications, job site validation documents and installation procedures.
• Develop Conceptual designs in conjunction with Project Owners or other stakeholders.
• Prepare Project scopes including engineering specifications for tendering purposes.
• Approve designs of external Engineering vendor scope.
• Manage General performance of Engineering vendor.
• Prepare schedule and resource forecasting for specific engineering activities including tracking.
• Ensure accuracy of financial forecasts which tie-in to Project schedules.
• Inter-discipline coordination and overall quality control of engineering work
• Conducting progress review and safety meetings with contractors as per schedule.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Able and willing to work under pressure and occasionally outside normal working hours.
• Self-initiative / able to work under minimum supervision.
• Construction site experience with multi – discipline projects like Mining, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Piping, electrical and instrumentation will be an added advantage.
• Strong track record of successfully completed projects in the mining industry.
