OBJECTIVES OF THE ROLE

  • The job holder is responsible for all aspects of financial accounting, & administration at FEED office in Tanzania. S/he will be responsible for accurate financial record keeping, reconciliations and office administration. The Job-holder will be expected to make recommendations as well as assist the team interpret financial reports and departmental budgets, working closely with Pillar Managers to implement effective financial management system.
  • The FM will work closely with the Grants Team & Finance team at Head Office.

SUMMARY OF MAIN DUTIES:

  • Support the team in developing long term program funding strategy.
  • Ensure implementation, and management of financial systems and procedures.
  • Adherence to internal controls, Finance policy & Global Finance standards.
  • Ensure there is efficient use of financial resources.
  • Review accounting discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support program teams develop realistic budgets, effective monitoring, timely and accurate reporting to head office and donors.
  • Developing and documenting financial procedures to ensure full compliance and accountability.
  • Oversee drawing & managing of Donor/Service level contracts adhering to legal requirements.
  • Contribute to overall strategic and operational management of the organization as a member of the Senior Management Team.
  • Provide financial management advice on revisions of budgets, preparing periodical forecasts and any amendments needed.
  • Monitor petty cash and bank balances to ensure sufficient funds are always available depending on program needs.
  • Preparation and coordination of audits (general audit, donors’ audits) in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with all Statutory and organization audit requirements.
  • Oversee the establishment/refinement and management of all procurement and logistics activities.
  • Develop business plan, timeline and budget to perform financial projects.
  • Monitor and manage expenditures within allotted budget.
  • Supervise and manage payroll processing and tax filing activities.
  • Ensure compliance with the Tanzania Revenue Authority requirements relating to taxation.
  • Work with HR to identify training needs of the finance team staff, develop and strengthen capacity on various professional fronts.
  • Sending out monthly Budget to Variance report to all Pillar Managers regarding departmental budgets’ updates and holding regular meetings with them to provide financial stewardship.
  • Ensure Standard Operating Procedures for the financial administration are followed.
  • Support Country Director to coordinate visitors and events in the country office.
  • Flexible to take up other duties assigned by the Country/Regional Director.

MINIMUM PERSONAL SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance
  • Professional qualifications in CPA/ACCA a Masters will be an added advantage.
  • 5 years accounting experience, 3 be at a senior level.
  • Excellent Accounting computer experience. Knowledge of QuickBooks will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in budgeting, financial reporting and administration preferably within NGO setting.
  • Experience in managing and reporting on multi-donor funding.
  • Flexible to travel to field location and support field projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to think strategically and meet strict deadlines.
  • Good knowledge of local Procurement, labour laws and best practices.
  • Excellent written and spoken English and Kiswahili needed
  • International NGO experience an advantage
  • Commitment to FEED values and observe Child Protection Policies
  • Be a registered member of National Board of Accountants and Auditors.
