JOB TITLE
HIV Testing and Counseling Provider

OVERALL GOAL OF THE JOB
The HIV Testing and Counseling Provider is responsible for the implementation of the HIV test campaigns and for the establishment and well-functioning of a linkage network between the campaigns and the HUBs and other facilities in the area. The HIV testing and counseling
provider will also support the project management in data collection.

S/he is responsible, together with the management of the project, of the image and reputation of the NGO locally.

PROJECT
The Test and Treat Project in Shinyanga and Simiyu
Regions

MAIN TASKS

• Ensuring that patients will receive appropriate care and counseling during the test campaigns
  
• Educating patients about all aspects of HIV disease and treatment management, as well as basic healthy lifestyles.
  
• Counseling patients on HIV diagnosis, management of medications, medication and clinic follow up adherence, psychosocial issues, and basic health self- care.
  
• Counseling and educating family members and care givers to promote secondary prevention of HIV infection, to improve the care of patients with HIV, and to strengthen social support networks of patients
  
• To link the HIV+ patients with the other available facilities providing HIV care and follow them during the beginning of the treatment
  
• Filling in the reporting registers and other request documentation
  
• Supporting the Test Coordinator and Community Coordinator in monthly data collection and report writing
  
• Support the other staff (CUAMM staff, HUBs staff, Community Health Workers etc.) during the test campaigns and other project activities.
  
• Performing any other duty as assigned by the supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• HIV Testing and Counseling Provider should have a diploma in Nursing with valid practice license and CITC or VCT training certificate;
  
• A minimum of 3 years’ working experience;
  
• Ability to communicate in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity, empathic and non-judgmental attitude
  
• Previous experience with international and local NGOs preferred;
  
• Fluency in Kiswahili, both written and spoken, is required.
  
• Fluency in English and Kisukuma languages will be a plus

CONTRACT DURATION
1 year, renewable

DUTY STATION
ltwangi Division/ Shinyanga Municipal/ltilima District/ Bariadi District

COMPENSATION
A competitive stipend will be offered as per Government of Tanzania regulations.
