Job Overview:
Kendwa Rocks Beach Hotel is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resource Manager with a strong background in the hospitality industry. This role is critical to cultivating a positive company culture, managing employee relations, and overseeing essential HR functions, including recruitment, compliance, performance management, training, and development. The ideal candidate will demonstrate flexibility, administrative rigor, and a collaborative approach, contributing to both HR and hotel activities as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Recruitment & Talent Acquisition:
- Lead the recruitment process, from job postings and interviewing to hiring and onboarding, ensuring we attract top talent aligned with our values and standards.
- Develop strategic recruitment plans to address staffing needs and retention goals.
2. Employee Relations & Culture Development:
- Foster a positive work environment, enhancing employee morale and engagement.
- Organize initiatives and programs to reinforce a strong, inclusive, and productive workplace culture.
- Provide guidance on conflict resolution and mediate disputes when necessary.
3. Compliance & Policy Management:
- Ensure compliance with local labor laws and regulations, updating policies and procedures as required.
- Maintain thorough documentation of HR practices to ensure full compliance and transparency.
4. Performance Management:
- Oversee performance evaluations, assist managers with setting objectives, and implement feedback processes to support employee growth.
- Design and adapt incentive programs to recognize high-performing employees and promote motivation across the team.
5. Training & Development:
- Identify training needs and develop programs to improve skill sets, enhance job satisfaction, and foster career growth within the hotel.
- Lead regular training sessions on company standards, compliance, and guest service excellence.
6. Administration:
- Maintain meticulous records and manage all administrative aspects of HR, including payroll processing, attendance tracking, and benefits administration.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in HR management within the hospitality industry.
- Excellent command of spoken and written English; knowledge of Swahili is a plus.
- Strong administrative skills with high attention to detail.
- Flexibility to support additional hotel functions as required.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with diplomacy and discretion.
- Proven track record of improving retention rates, implementing training programs, and developing employee incentive and evaluation systems.
- Employee Relations and Conflict Resolution skills
- Knowledge of labor laws and HR compliance
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field
Employment Details
- This is a full-time, on-site role based at Kendwa Rocks Beach Hotel, Zanzibar.
- The position requires a 6-day work week.
