Leaf Quality Buying Manager
You will be joining the Leaf Department reporting to the Leaf Director in Morogoro based in Tabora.

This position is responsible for:
Facilitate the Leaf Buying process by ensuring that daily purchase intake is in line with set targets across the Central Market buying floor. Provide appropriate advice to the buying team ensuring that the prices and buying grades are in line with set pricing policy. Ensure that the set prices and that the direct pricing policy is being implemented effectively, to secure the contracted volume. Ensure that the tobacco purchased is in line with JTI set quality grade standards and are within the correct pricing segments. Monitoring daily market trends on volume and pricing to ensure alignment to JTI LS volume and pricing strategies. Ensure effective arbitration between all stakeholders ensuring the process is being handled fairly and in line with industry regulations. Ensure amicable settling of price. quality and NTRM disputes.

Monitoring Buying Grade Classification by ensuring team alignment when classifying all tobacco to ensure grade consistency for all purchased grades. Ensure set government grades are fair and consistent by working alongside all stakeholders ensuring that the correct grades fit the correct Leaf classification. Monitor and evaluate the buying team to ensure uniformity of quality and purchasing. Mentor and support the buying team by upskilling and knowledge sharing in order to develop the team further.

Management of the Leaf Buying team by ensuring that there is adequate buying, classification, quality checking resources available during the buying season enabling TJI LS to be represented sufficiently at the Central Market. Mentor and ensure discipline within the Leaf team is maintained. Ensuring JTI values and principles are adhered to during the Central Market proceedings. Uphold the JTI image and ensure people development within the buying team to ensure abundance of leaf skill base at all times.

Leaf Administration ensure effective use of the Leaf systems tool and ensure daily monitoring of volume intake, purchased grades, daily average price and market conditions are distributed to the Leaf Management team. Ensure that all NRTM and MIXED quality identified bales are recorded accurately and reports produced and distributed together with weekly buying reports.

Leaf Stakeholders Engagement by working closely with TFB buyers, Union members. Primary society representatives and Farmers, ensuring smooth daily purchasing operations at the Central Market. Ensure that engagements with growers are above board and in line with JTI regulations and practices. Conduct one's self in a professional and courteous manner when interacting with stakeholders. Participating in cross-functional projects as assigned by the Functional Director and carrying out any other duties outside of daily scope as assigned by the JTI LS Excom.
Key Requirements
• Technical Diploma l Bachelor degree in Economics/Business or Agriculture
• 10 years‘ experience within the Tobacco industry in the Tobacco Procurement process.
• High level of Tobacco knowledge with minimum of8 years buying experience
• Good health, ability to stand and walk for long periods, mental agility for buying.
• Fluency in English and Swahili (Spoken and Written)
• Excellent computer literacy including use of Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
