JOB DETAILS:
Duties
The Quality and Safety Inspector serves as the Facilities (FAC) section inspector for work on government owned (GO) and Operating Leased (OL) residences. They also assist the Post Occupational Safety and Health Officer (POSHO) their A/POSHO in carrying out the day-to-day functions of the Safety Health and Environmental Management (SHEM), and Fire Protection Division (FIR) programs within residences as required by 15 FAM 900 and 15 FAM 800; assures that all GO and leased property in country meet the requirements of 15 FAM 253.5, 15 FAM 432, 15 FAM 840, and 15 FAM 950, as well as other related Departmental requirements which may exist.
Serves as Supervising Real Property Safety Inspector by verifying and ensuring that Operating Leases and Government Owned housing units are following all Embassy Housing, Residential Building, Security, and Construction Codes. Performs Engineering/Architectural inspections of OL and GO properties such as apartments, offices, warehouses, workshops, hangars, residences etc., including remodeling projects, construction work, and upgrades.
Performs inspections on all Make-Ready work performed by Landlords (LL) and follows the Make-Ready inspection checklist to ensure work is being done according to industry standard quality and safety. The Quality and Safety Inspector will inspect work performed by LL technicians on routine work orders and unscheduled work orders to ensure quality and safety of the housing pool residences.
Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: At least three (3) years’ experience as quality and safety inspector in the facility maintenance or construction fields.
JOB KNOWLEDGE:
• Good knowledge of local building and construction codes, local safety, and security rules. Must be familiar with the local government structure and jurisdictions and the key personnel to facilitate authorization and related engagement. Knowledge of local construction firms’ operation and supplies availability is required. Must know the National Electric Code (NEC), Uniform Plumbing Code, and International Building Codes.
Education Requirements:
• At least two (2) years of college/university studies in facilities management, environmental safety, construction, engineering, or architecture is required.
