6. MEDICAL SPECIALIST II (Internal Medicine) – 1 position
6.1. Job Summary
The incumbent will be responsible for conducting physical examinations to make diagnoses, prescribing treatments and counselling patients about lifestyle changes that can lead to health improvements.
6.2. Duties and responsibilities
The primary responsibility is to deliver quality patient care by performing the following duties:
• To attend in and out patients;
• To attend emergency medical duties;
• To carry out specialized investigations of admitted patients;
• To ensure that prescribed instructions are carried out;
• To conduct specialized operations of his specialized field of study;
• To consult with patients to understand their symptoms and health concerns.
• To diagnose and treat acute illnesses, such as bacterial and viral infections, as well as chronic diseases and conditions, such as hypertension, heart disease, or diabetes.
• To prescribe and administer medication, therapy, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury.
• To explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients.
• To monitor patients' conditions and progress, and re-evaluate treatments, as necessary.
• To provide health and wellness advice to patients, including diet, physical activity, hygiene, and disease prevention.
• To immunize patients against preventable diseases.
• To maintain detailed notes of appointments with patients, including comments, tests, and/or treatments prescribed, and test results.
• To conduct research into the testing and development of new medications, methods of treatment, or procedures to prevent or control illness, disease, or injury.
• To conduct on the job training to the junior staff;
• To carry out service and participating in major ward rounds;
• To supervise medical students and interns in clinical duties;
• To participate fully in morning clinical sessions, patient presentation and journal clubs;
• To participate in research activities;
• To conduct outreach programs; and
• To perform any other related duty assigned by the Supervisor
6.3. Qualification and experience
• Holder of Master of Medicine Degree (M.Med) in internal medicine
• Must be registered with the Medical Council of Tanganyika.
• Must be a holder of a Doctor of Medicine Degree.
• Must have a valid practicing license
• At least two (2) years working experience as a medical doctor
• Two (2) years of working experience as a Medical Specialist in Internal Medicine in a related field in busy and reputable institution.

Level of Education: Postgraduate Degree
