Job Description
Mobile Crane Operator
• Responsible for operating mobile cranes to lift and move heavy objects, materials, and equipment at sites on the mine, and other locations as required.
• Ensure the safe and efficient movement of loads, adhere to all mine and safety regulations and industry best practices.
• The role requires a combination of technical skills, physical stamina, and a strong understanding of load capacities and rigging techniques.

Responsibilities
• Safely and efficiently operate mobile cranes to lift, move, and position heavy objects, equipment, and materials according to project requirements.
• Perform pre-operational inspections and maintenance checks on the crane, ensuring it is in optimal working condition before operation.
• Set up the crane at job sites, ensuring stability and safety measures are in place, such as outriggers, cribbing, and proper rigging techniques.
• Interpret and follow lifting plans and signals from signal persons or riggers to ensure accurate and safe crane movements.
• Assess load weights and determine load capacities to ensure safe lifting operations, making necessary adjustments as required.
• Communicate effectively with team members, including signal persons, riggers, and supervisors, to ensure coordinated and safe lifting operations.
• Adhere to all relevant safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies, always maintain a strong focus on safety.
• Monitor and maintain the proper function of crane controls, ensuring they are responsive and functioning correctly during operations.

Qualification
• High school diploma or equivalent education level.
• Additional certifications such as rigging or signaling preferred, but not a main requirement.
• Valid crane operator certification from a recognized training organization

Experience
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a mobile crane operator, preferably in a mine, construction or industrial setting
• Proven experience as a mobile crane operator, preferably on mines.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of crane operations and safety procedures.
