AngloGold Ashanti (AGA) has operations in more than ten countries across four continents. Geita Gold Mining Limited (GGML) is situated in the Lake Victoria Gold fields of Northwestern Tanzania, only about 120 km’s from Mwanza City and 20 km’s Southeast of the nearest point of Lake Victoria. The company has its main office and operations in Geita, only 5 Km’s west of the fast-growing town of Geita, and a supporting office in Dar es Salaam. Applications are invited from ambitious, energetic and performance driven individuals to fill in vacant position(s) mentioned below:

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
The purpose of this role in the mining pit is to execute the mining production plan effectively and safely by utilizing advanced technical skills, operational experience, and knowledge of earthmoving equipment. This role is critical in maximizing productivity from mining pits, ensuring optimal material movement, and contributing to the achievement of overall mining goals. The operator’s proficiency in handling the excavator directly impacts the efficiency and safety of operations within the pit.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Completion of Secondary School Education.
• Applicants must have completed a formal driving course and hold a valid certificate from a recognized institution.
• The incumbent must have a valid Tanzanian driving license.

EXPERIENCE:
• A minimum of 10 years and above of working experience in operating RH170 backhoes and RH170 Shovel.

MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Conduct pre- and post-inspections of equipment to ensure all safety conditions are met and proper functioning of the excavator.
• Read, interpret, and execute the mining production plan accurately to avoid rework and ensure efficient material handling.
• Perform loading operations into Dump Trucks, ensuring optimal material weight and adherence to Equipment KPIs, including fleet management system usage.
• Coordinate with Truck Operators, Geology, FMS Coordinators, and other relevant personnel to optimize production, manage material flow, and ensure clear communication.
• Interpret demarcation tapes to differentiate between ore, waste, and no-digging zones; ensure proper wall clean-up, side casting, and handling of big boulders for efficient operations.
• Provide practical guidance and training to new operators on safe and effective excavator use and offer directions to Truck and Dozer Operators in loading areas.
• Create and maintain access roads, ramps, and safe pedestrian pathways; perform digging and backfilling as required for mining operations.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies, reporting any incidents, near misses, or safety hazards to supervisors.
• Maintain housekeeping to required standards and adhere to maintenance schedules and operational instructions from supervisors.
• Suggest improvements to mining operations, safety practices, and performance KPIs while ensuring adherence to safety protocols and zero-harm culture.
