JOB DETAILS:
Fintrac, a leading US-based agriculture consulting firm with long-term programs in Africa, Asia and Central America, is seeking a Project Accountant for the 4-year, Feed the Future Tanzania Mboga na Matunda.
Location: Dar es salaam
Responsibilities: The Project Accountant will be based at the Dar es Salaam Office and reports to the Senior Project Accountant. In addition to the specific tasks stated below, (s)he is expected to contribute fully as a program team member, conducting him/herself in a proper manner at all times as a representative of the program, and is responsible for the safe-keeping and care of all program assets assigned to him/her. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Preparing accurate financial vouchers and statements for weekly transfer to Fintrac's Home Office.
• Maintaining all program accounts in compliance with Fintrac's accounts in compliance with Fintrac's accountancy rules, including but not limited to general ledger, cashbook and payroll, etc.
• Ensuring that all program payments are made in accordance with USAID and Fintrac regulation
• Managing of Accounts Receivables and Accounts Payables
• Preparation of local payroll and submit required tax withholding payments to the government.
• Managing the posting of all financial transactions into Fintrac's accounting system (Quick books).
• Maintaining all field- level (Tanzania) accounting records in original form
• Maintaining all records and transactions pertaining to Partner Fund and Technology Fund
• Complying with USAID's local tax reporting requirement (submitted every six months)
• Supervising the daily work of the Accounting Assistant, including voucher preparation and petty cash management.
• Performing any other duties assigned by the Senior Accountant.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• At a minimum, candidates must possess:
• At least 4 years of experience in Accounting or Financial Control with USAID Funded projects
• University Degree/ Advanced Diploma in Accounting/Finance from a recognized higher learning institution.
• Knowledge on Quick Books Accounting system
