JOB DETAILS:
• Develop and execute overall project strategy, work plan and budget to achieve project results at global, regional, and country levels.
• Direct and monitor implementation of activities within the approved work plan and budget, ensuring that activities are performed to a high professional and technical standards, effectively implemented and fulfill donor and FHI 360’s requirements.
• Ensure compliance with FHI 360, USG/USAID and other regulations and policies.
• Create, promote and maintain a safe and equitable work environment for all personnel, including a harassment- and violence-free work culture and systems for safeguarding project participants.
• Establish and maintain relationships with USAID/Washington and USAID overseas country and regional Missions, national and international partners, and other key stakeholders and collaborators.
• Provide technical direction and is accountable for successful implementation of the award.
• Define goals, produce best-in-class practices, and lead a team with the purpose of maintaining current relationships and forge new partnerships.
• Support business-oriented project management aiding in execution and decision support.
• Actively work with team members on relevant management techniques and in the creation of appropriate project and program governance.
• Provide capacity planning models and identifies potential resource conflicts across the portfolio.
• Establish and lead change management processes, as needed.
• Maintain an overall governance and understanding of dependencies associated with resources across the project portfolio.
• Serve as communication conduit for project status, actions, decisions, risks and issues and schedules for project portfolio.
• Provide relevant metrics and analytics to support business and executive decision making.
• Provide communications to senior management through dashboards and reporting.
• Provide reporting and governance of the portfolio financial health.
• Support performance management and professional development of direct reports, including ongoing feedback, coaching, and career support.
Applied Knowledge & Skills:
• Strong business acumen with the ability to understand and manage risks and opportunities.
• Comprehensive knowledge of theories, concepts, and practices with project management, process development and execution.
• Strong knowledge of family planning/reproductive health (FP/RH)
• Strong knowledge of, and commitment to, gender equity and social inclusion.
• Knowledge of non-profit funding streams, including government and philanthropic.
• Strong negotiator and collaborator who strengthens business relationships.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to plan, organize, and manage resources for successful completion of projects.
• Excellent and demonstrated public relations, policy development, project management and diplomacy skills required.
• Ability to build positive local working relationships with local communities, district government officials, UN and where appropriate, donor representatives.
• Prior experience working in USAID Family Planning Priority countries and Ouagadougou Partnership countries.
Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree or its International Equivalent in Public Health, Civil Society, Health Financing, Economic Development, Education, Gender, Health, Nutrition, and Youth or a Related Fields. Master's Preferred
• Project Management (PM) Certification preferred.
Experience:
• Typically requires 12+ years of relevant experience with project management principles and practices (including 8+ years of corporate strategic leadership, strong business acumen and/or line management experience).
• Proficient with applicable rules, regulations, and policies associated with international development and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
• Demonstrated experience in sector specific multi-sector project management and implementation.
• Demonstrated strategic planning, staff development and capacity building experience.
• Demonstrated experience in leading and managing complex projects that are strategic in nature and national/international in scope.
• Proven ability to develop relationships and coordinate with government officials, civil society, and non-governmental organizations.
• Experience operating in challenging environments.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English
• Professional-level fluency in French is highly desirable.
• Experience implementing youth programming strongly preferred.
• Prior experience managing (or in a leadership position) a USAID-funded central award preferred.
